My 2016

My 2016 was when I actually started to learn how to do makeup 😂 my baby girl was 2 and I was 23. Before 2016 I was kinda just winging it with makeup. 2016 was the MUA era as well so it makes sense. And now? I hardly wear any makeup. I still wear it but I just default to simply mascara and a lip product. I have a skin care regimin finally so my skin stays pretty clear unless it is that time of the month. #2016makeup #timetravel #2016vibes

Like many, I was influenced by the rising popularity of MUA (Makeup Artist) culture that year, which inspired me to learn proper techniques instead of just winging it. I began with basic tools—mascara and lip products—and gradually realized that sometimes less is more. This approach allowed me to focus on enhancing my natural beauty without feeling overwhelmed. One key lesson I learned is the importance of a dedicated skincare routine. When I committed to taking care of my skin consistently, I saw a remarkable improvement in clarity and texture. This shift was especially helpful during hormonal changes throughout the month, which can cause occasional breakouts. Simple habits like cleansing, moisturizing, and sun protection became the foundation of my routine, and I noticed my makeup looked better too. For anyone starting their makeup or skincare journey, I recommend diving into tutorials from trusted MUAs but also embracing what feels comfortable for you. There’s no need to wear full glam every day—sometimes, a bit of mascara and lip tint is all you need to feel confident. Investing time in healthy skin care will make any makeup application easier and more effective. Over time, you’ll find what works best for your lifestyle and skin type, just like I did since 2016.
