I feel like one day I’ll be able to rep out one plate for 10

Hey everyone! I totally get that feeling of working towards a big lift, like hitting a full plate for 10 reps on chest press. That's my goal too! For us girlies looking to build a strong and toned upper body, especially focusing on our CHEST & TRICEPS, a well-structured workout day is key. I've learned that it's not just about lifting heavy, but doing it smart and consistently. Before diving into any heavy lifting, a good warm-up is crucial for preventing injuries and getting your muscles ready. I usually start with 5-10 minutes of light cardio, like jogging or cycling, to get my blood flowing. Then, I move into dynamic stretches specifically for my chest and triceps. Think arm circles, light arm swings, and some resistance band pull-aparts to activate those chest muscles. For triceps, I do some gentle arm extensions and push-ups against a wall or incline to wake them up. This 'tricep warm up' really makes a difference in my performance. When it comes to chest exercises for women, I find focusing on a variety of movements helps target the chest from different angles. My go-to moves often include: Dumbbell Bench Press: This is fantastic for overall chest development. I make sure to control the weight on the way down and really squeeze at the top. If you're at the gym, using a flat bench is a classic, but sometimes I'll use an incline bench to hit the upper chest a bit more. Push-ups: Don't underestimate these! They're excellent for both chest and triceps and can be scaled. If full push-ups are challenging, start on your knees or against a sturdy elevated surface. As I get stronger, I aim for more reps or try elevated feet push-ups. Cable Flyes: These give a great stretch and contraction, really isolating the chest. I prefer these over dumbbell flyes sometimes because of the constant tension. After my chest work, I transition to my tricep workout for women. Strong triceps not only look great but also help with everyday pushing movements and contribute to a stronger bench press! Here are a few exercises I swear by: Overhead Dumbbell Triceps Extension: This hits the long head of the triceps. I usually use one dumbbell held with both hands and extend it overhead. Triceps Pushdowns (Cable Rope or Bar): This is a staple for me at the gym. I focus on keeping my elbows tucked in and really squeezing the triceps at the bottom. Close-Grip Dumbbell Press: While also hitting the chest, this variation puts significant emphasis on the triceps. It's a great compound movement to finish off with some heavy work. For those looking for tricep workouts with dumbbells for women specifically, you can easily adapt the overhead extensions and even do kickbacks or skullcrushers with dumbbells. After I've crushed my CHEST & TRICEPS session, I make sure to do some stretching. This "chest and triceps stretching after workout" routine helps with flexibility and recovery. I hold stretches like a chest opener (arms outstretched in a doorway) and triceps stretch (one arm over the head, pulling the elbow with the other hand) for at least 20-30 seconds each side. Consistency is key, and don't be afraid to challenge yourself. Progression might look like increasing reps, sets, or the weight you lift. If you're consistently hitting 10-12 reps comfortably, it's probably time to slightly increase the weight. Keep pushing, stay consistent, and those strength goals will be within reach!
