July Reading Wrap Up

2 days agoEdited to

... Read moreJuly was a fantastic month for my reading journey, and diving into nine books gave me a lot to think about and enjoy. Some were absolute gems that I’d recommend to anyone, while others just didn’t quite hit the mark for me. What’s interesting is how varied the genres and themes were. For instance, I found myself intrigued by some contemporary stories, while also revisiting classics and discovering fresh voices that surprised me. One thing I realized is that engaging with the ReadingCommunity and following #BookTok helped me uncover titles that aren’t mainstream yet but offer unique perspectives. Personally, it’s also fun to compare notes with other readers; some books I loved weren’t for everyone, and the same goes the other way around. When assessing a book, I look at how it resonated emotionally and how the writing style worked for me. Sometimes I gave a 'maybe' because a book had potential but wasn’t quite as engrossing as I’d hoped. For example, if a story lacked pacing or character depth, I was less inclined to rate it highly—even if the concept was compelling. It’s all part of how I decide whether to recommend a read or keep it on the maybe list. If you’re curious about specific titles from this month’s list, feel free to ask! I’m always eager to discuss favorites like Octavia E. Butler’s work or new voices that bring fresh energy to the reading world. Sharing these reading experiences not only helps us find great books but also builds a stronger, supportive community of readers. What are your recent reads? Have you found any hidden gems or unexpected disappointments this summer? Let’s keep the conversation going!
