1st harvest on my hydroponic cilantro 🤩
My first harvest on cilantro from my hydroponic garden! 😋 My favorite and most used herb. With the right cuts your cilantro will keep producing fresh leaves 🌿
-I snipped outer leaves first and left the center stems to keep growing.
-Cut about 1/3rd of the plant at a time (don’t take it all!)
-Harvest frequently to prevent bolting and promote growth!

Harvesting cilantro in a hydroponic setup requires a bit of strategy to ensure your plant keeps thriving. The key is to avoid taking too much of the plant at once. By selectively snipping the outer stems and older leaves, you allow the center of the plant to continue growing strong and healthy. This method keeps your cilantro productive over a longer period. An important factor to consider is regular harvesting. Frequently cutting the leaves encourages the plant to produce more growth rather than flowering prematurely, which is known as bolting. Bolting not only shortens the plant's lifespan but also affects the flavor and texture of the leaves, making them bitter and less desirable. When you harvest, aim to cut about one-third of your cilantro plant at a time. Avoid harvesting all the leaves at once to give the plant enough foliage to photosynthesize and sustain growth. This practice leads to a sustainable harvest cycle where your hydroponic cilantro can keep producing fresh, flavorful leaves. Hydroponic gardening, with its soil-free and nutrient-controlled environment, makes growing flavorful herbs like cilantro easier, especially indoors. Maintaining proper water pH and nutrient levels alongside frequent trimming will significantly boost your plant’s health. By following these simple but effective harvesting techniques, you can enjoy a steady supply of fresh cilantro from your hydroponic system. Happy gardening and enjoy your flavorful homegrown herbs!
