First Apartment 🔑🏠
No lie, having your first apartment can be exciting & stressful! 😩😭💕 You might find yourself moved in and realizing things that you need as you go along… that’s okay! I recommend you make sure you have your basic needs first: plates, cups, silverware, a pot, a pan, shower stuff, toilet paper, plunger, toilet brush & cleaner, and household cleaning supplies (Lysol wipes, trash bags, soap, etc)
Additional Tips:
• Like I said. Moving in can be stressful. When I first moved in I thought I had it all figured out and started realizing everything I still needed. If you find yourself in a similar situation and have a supportive family or friend group, host a house warming party and ask for gift cards or simple things you need! No lie, I saw this idea on instagram and decided to give it a try and my people showed up for me and got me majority of the things I was really needing (pretty much everything I listed above 😭)
• Decorate however you want! You want anime posters? DO IT! Want the chic vibe? DO IT! Want an all pink aesthetic? DO IT! Make your home reflect you! Make it comfy! Make it cozy! Make it inviting!
• I believe in a clear space/ clean space/ clean mindset. So make sure you clean on a regular basis! Set a schedule to vacuum, dust, do dishes, do laundry, water your plants, etc. Setting a schedule/ making a routine for yourself makes it easier at first! Also add candles, plug in’s, plants, or whatever you love that makes your home fresh & smelling clean!
• Budget! Start creating a budget every paycheck or month. It helps keep track of what bills need to be paid that check, what money you can splurge, and it also can help you keep track of things you need to buy around the house.
• Get to know your neighbors! It’s always good to have people nearby that you can trust! Develop a relationship with your neighbors! Make them brownies or your fave dish, help them out one day. I’ve learned it’s always good to have someone (outside of friends and family) who’s close to home and can be an extra set of eyes for you if you’re ever gone or away for a while!
