My Makeup Revolution

2013:

This is when I first started wearing makeup

- Foundation

- Glitter Eyeshadow

- Highlight obsession. Let’s just say I was doing the highlight challenge before it was even a thing

- Mascara

2016:

- I was learning how to do a full face

- Was still trying to figure out how to contour

- I discovered black eyeliner

- I went through a “smokey eye” faze, but honestly I never fully learned how to do a proper smokey eye!

2022-present:

- I would say I learned what I was doing around this time.

- I learned my everyday coverage routine

- Full coverage foundation

- Countour

- Blush

- Highlight

- Wore false lashes & eventually fell in love with lash extensions

- Eventually played around with colored lash extensions

- I learned how to fill in my brows & also make them look a little bit more natural & a little less cubed

- Ditched the black liner for my lower water line

- Started playing with face gems & colored eyeshadows

- Even got comfortable playing with colored eyeliner

No lie, I’m thinking of changing it again soon! I want to try a more natural beat face look. Just have been a little too scared to! I’ve become so comfortable with my current makeup routine 😭💗✨

This personal story of makeup progress from 2013 to the present highlights key milestones that resonate with anyone passionate about cosmetics. Starting with basic essentials like foundation, glitter eyeshadow, highlight obsession, and mascara in 2013, many beginners begin to explore foundational techniques to enhance their natural features. Highlighting, especially, has become a major trend in recent years, and early adopters practiced it before it became widely popular. By 2016, the journey included learning how to create a full face of makeup, understanding contouring, and experimenting with black eyeliner—essential steps for developing expert makeup skills. The “smokey eye” phase, though challenging, is a rite of passage that teaches blending and precision. In recent years, from 2022 onward, an advanced routine emerges. Full coverage foundation, defined contouring, blush, and highlight blend to create a flawless base. The adoption of false lashes and lash extensions adds drama and dimension to the eyes. Colored lash extensions and eyeshadows introduce playful, artistic elements that emphasize creativity. Brows evolve from harsh, overly sculpted shapes to softer, more natural looks, reflecting modern trends focused on enhancing rather than masking natural beauty. The decision to ditch black liner on the lower waterline is a subtle yet impactful change, making the eyes appear larger and fresher. The experimentation with face gems and colored eyeliner further showcases how makeup can be a form of self-expression beyond everyday wear. These features can elevate a makeup look for special occasions or creative projects. For those contemplating transitioning to a more natural makeup style, it’s common to feel hesitant after growing comfortable with familiar routines. However, embracing a 'no-makeup' beat or a more subdued look can refresh your style and highlight your unique features. In conclusion, this makeup revolution reflects a comprehensive progression embracing both classic and innovative practices. It encourages beauty lovers to learn continuously, be fearless with color, and appreciate the versatile art of makeup. Whether you’re mastering contour or experimenting with lash extensions, every step builds confidence and personal style.
