... Read moreIt's truly an incredible journey watching these tiny newborn boxer puppies grow right before my eyes! When they first arrived, they were so small and helpless, completely dependent on their amazing mom. Now, as they're approaching two weeks old, I'm already seeing such significant changes.
In these first crucial weeks, it's all about mom and her incredible instincts. She hardly leaves their side, constantly cleaning and nurturing them. I've often seen her gently nudging them back to nurse. The brindle boxer puppies, still mostly sleeping and wiggling, spend their days snuggled close, finding comfort and nourishment. It's fascinating to watch them instinctively latch on to their mother, their little bodies pushing and competing for the best spot. Right now, they're mostly focused on eating and sleeping, which is exactly what they need to do to grow strong.
One thing I absolutely adore is seeing them all lined up! When they're nursing, it's a sight to behold – all these tiny heads with their colored collars (which help me tell them apart!) pushing into their mom. They're often on a soft, gray textured blanket, which makes for a cozy and warm spot for the whole family. I make sure to keep their area clean and quiet, as any disturbance can stress the mom and the fragile newborn boxer puppies.
During the first week, their eyes and ears are still closed, and they move by crawling. They can't regulate their own body temperature, so staying close to mom and their littermates is vital. By the time they're around 1 week old, like some of mine were just a few days ago, you might start to see their eyes just beginning to open, though their vision will still be blurry. It's truly a magical moment when you catch that first glimpse of their eyes! Their hearing starts to develop around this time too. They're still mostly eating and sleeping, but there's a definite increase in their activity as they gain strength.
I've learned so much about caring for these little ones. Regularly checking on them, ensuring they're all getting enough to eat, and making sure the environment is just right are my top priorities. I also gently handle them for short periods, just to get them used to human touch, which is so important for their socialization later on.
It's amazing how quickly time flies. Soon, these little boxer puppies newborn bundles will be toddling around, exploring their world. For now, I'm just cherishing every moment of their tiny, sleepy, and oh-so-adorable phase. If you're considering getting a boxer puppy, especially a young one, be prepared for an incredibly rewarding, albeit demanding, experience. The joy they bring is simply immeasurable! Seeing them thrive on that gray blanket with their mom, it warms my heart every single day.
