... Read moreLosing weight at 16 can feel overwhelming, especially when starting at a weight like 230lbs and a height of 5'4". However, with realistic goals and healthy habits, weight loss is achievable and can improve overall well-being. First, focus on creating a balanced diet that includes plenty of fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains. Avoid crash diets or overly restrictive eating, as they can be harmful to a growing body and often result in yo-yo weight fluctuations. Instead, aim to reduce sugary drinks, processed snacks, and high-calorie fast foods. Next, incorporating regular physical activity is essential. Activities you enjoy increase the chance you'll stick with them. For example, brisk walking, swimming, cycling, or joining a sports club can make exercise fun rather than a chore. Aim for at least 60 minutes of moderate activity most days of the week. Sleep and stress management also play a crucial role. Teenagers need around 8-10 hours of sleep per night to support metabolism and hormonal balance important for weight management. Managing stress through mindfulness or hobbies can prevent emotional eating. Remember, weight loss is a gradual process and every body responds differently. Tracking your progress with non-scale victories such as increased energy, better mood, and improved fitness can be motivating. Consulting a healthcare provider or dietitian for personalized guidance is always recommended. By adopting a holistic approach focusing on nutrition, exercise, sleep, and mental health, teens can safely reduce weight and boost their confidence.

My daughter weighed 220 lbs a year ago, now she weighs 140. She did fasting with only water and kombucha drinks. I only advise you to eat meals that are low in carbohydrates and high in fiber and iron. My daughter is still taking iron because she lost some vitamins.
