Meet Flint! The hound dog

Since bringing Flint, my sweet Blue Tick Coonhound pup, into my life, it's been an adventure filled with endless cuddles and hilarious moments. Flint uses his voice to express excitement, to alert me to something interesting (usually a squirrel!), or sometimes just to say hello. While it's part of their charm, it's something potential owners should be aware of, especially if you live in close quarters. Training them to moderate their vocalizations can be helpful, but embrace the bay – it's classic hound! As scent hounds, their noses lead the way. This means a secure yard is non-negotiable. If Flint catches a scent, he's off to investigate! Long leashed walks in interesting environments are a fantastic way to satisfy their natural instincts. I love watching him 'work' his nose during our walks. Puzzle toys and scent games are also great for mental stimulation, which is just as important as physical exercise for a smart pup like Flint. Don't underestimate their energy; a 4-month-old Bluetick like Flint needs plenty of opportunities to run and play. We spend a lot of time playing on the farm, which he absolutely loves, especially anything involving water! Overall, owning a Blue Tick Coonhound puppy is a rewarding experience.
