Best Treats to gift your friends> Halloween
Caramel Apples
- 1 c brown sugar
-1 c white sugar
-1 c light corn syrup
-1 tsp salt
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk
-1 stick of room temp butter (salted or unsalted)
-1 tsp vanilla extract
Skewers or popsicle sticks
10 apples of your choice
1. In a med pot bring water to a boil. With a spoon, dip apples into the pot for about 10 seconds to remove all the wax.
2. After apple has boiled for 10 seconds, rub down dry with a paper towel. Remove stems and put skewers into the core of the apple. Repeat until all apples have been boiled, dried and skewered.
3. Place all caramel ingredients into a clean dry pot and put over med heat.
4. *this is important* Continue stirring caramel for about 20 min. DO NOT BURN. Until it hits 225 degrees F or until bubbling and boiling.
5. Let caramel cool till 190 degrees or about 5 min. In the time, line a baking sheet or pan with tinfoil or parchment paper.
6. Dip apples into the caramel generously and place on baking sheet.
*Some of my apples i dipped a 2nd time due to caramel being too warm & runny.*
7. Let caramel apples cool or place in the fridge until hardened.
side notes *This caramel is chewy and caramel does not completely harden.
* If caramel is burnt it cannot be saved due to the burnt caramel taste.
Enjoy😍😍
