REAL skin 🫶

I’m not perfect. Far from it, I’d say. But I’m not going to let my “imperfections” (as dictated by modern beauty standards) dictate my mood or my worth. I’m still beautiful. I don’t need anyone to tell me that. I am still worthy of love and life even if I don’t look like a porcelain Barbie doll. I enjoy being unfiltered. Once we accept that there will always be someone “better” than us, we will find so much peace just being ourselves.

... Read moreStepping into the world of truly accepting my skin, with all its natural quirks and stories, has been one of the most liberating experiences. It’s a journey I’ve been on, moving away from chasing an elusive ‘perfect’ image and instead, embracing the authentic me. When I hear people talk about ‘beauty and brows’ now, my mind goes straight to celebrating what’s real, not what's meticulously airbrushed. For a long time, like many of us, I worried about perceived flaws like sun damage, blackheads, acne, and even those pesky fine lines that whisper tales of laughter and life. And oh, the peach fuzz! I used to fret and try to minimize every bit. But I’ve learned that nurturing my skin means respecting its natural state, not battling it into submission. My routine now focuses on gentle care: a good cleanser, a hydrating moisturizer, and religiously applying SPF to protect against further sun damage, rather than trying to erase the past. For blackheads and acne, I’ve found that a consistent, mild routine works best, keeping my skin happy without stripping it or causing irritation. It’s about health, not perfection. And let's talk about brows! The idea of meticulously shaped, perfectly symmetrical brows used to consume me. But embracing my natural brows, even the slightly unplucked ones, has been a game-changer for my self-confidence. I’ve discovered that a little grooming goes a long way – a quick brush-through, maybe a clear brow gel to keep them in place, and if I’m feeling fancy, a tiny bit of brow powder to fill in sparse areas, but always following their natural shape. It's about enhancing what’s already there, not trying to redraw my face. This approach truly supports the idea that 'beauty and brows' can be about individual expression and celebrating unique facial features, rather than conforming to a trend. Beyond the physical, a huge part of this journey has been about cultivating inner confidence. It’s not always easy to ignore the constant stream of ‘perfect’ images online. But I’ve started actively curating my social media, following accounts that promote body positivity and realness. I also practice daily affirmations, reminding myself of my worth beyond my appearance. Remembering that my body carries me through life, allows me to experience joy, and connects me with loved ones, shifts my focus from minor skin concerns to gratitude. Finding peace in simply being myself, with all my unfiltered glory, has unlocked a deeper sense of beauty than any product ever could. It’s an ongoing process, but one that leads to genuine happiness and self-love.
