It’s true… 😅

It was December 2018 and I was scrolling through collective on ifunny, which for those who don’t know is basically a general “recently posted” section that isn’t necessarily popular, just new. I came across some post about Ohio and I got excited, I commented “hey I’m from Ohio too!”. From there, we kept commenting back and forth. It was so unlike both of us - it must have been an act of God. He ran a political themed profile and mine was religious (from my Baptist/pentecostal era… yikes). Truthfully, we really shouldn’t have met this way. Neither of us were looking for “companionship” from any online platform, and at first we didn’t exactly click. We exchanged phone numbers and texted for a few weeks but honestly I was annoyed by his persistence. I almost blocked his number! After a while though he began to grow on me. We FaceTimed nightly and shared so many memories together. We didn’t get to meet until 7 months into talking because we lived 3 hours apart and I didn’t have my license yet. Flash forward to 2024 and we have a 1.5 year old daughter together and have been married for about two years. When I think back about how we met, I’m caught up in many emotions. Embarrassment, amazement, bewilderment… it really shouldn’t have happened this way, but it did! And I wouldn’t change it. Buuuut… I wish I could change the story when people ask how we met 😂

Just like the author, countless individuals find companionship through social media platforms, chat groups, and forums. The initial awkwardness, as described, is a common experience for many. It highlights the fantastic leap from digital interaction to real-life romance. The excitement of establishing a connection through memes, humor, or shared interests can sometimes overshadow the initial hesitations we may feel. This story also sheds light on how relationships can transition from casual chats to lifelong commitments. The transformation over time, represented by the author's shift from annoyance to affection, is a testament to how love can develop in surprising circumstances. As people navigate the complexities of modern relationships, sharing such experiences can inspire others to be open to love in unconventional settings. For anyone uncertain about online connections, it’s a reminder that meaningful relationships often arise in unexpected ways. The rise of technology has not only changed how we communicate, but also how we meet and connect with potential partners, making it important to share these stories, so others feel encouraged in their own journey of love.

Don’t feel embarrassed! Initially I met my ex that way, it was on a different app called secrets or something. Also from ohio & he was literally 15 minutes away at the time, we didn’t work out for alot of reasons, but were together & married a total of 3 years. From 2014-2017. We told people our bffs introduced us.
