Mommy glow up tips ✨

Hey y’all! I’m just posting my ideas for mommy glow up tips.

First thing’s first: “glowing up” looks different to different people. For some, it’s looking better. For others, it’s feeling better. For almost everyone, it’s a combination of the two. While glowy skin and clean makeup do make us feel better, we will never feel our best unless we are both mentally and physically improving.

The first picture was in June. Clearly I still have acne and I’m not totally put together, but I consider this to be a glow up picture because I am HAPPY. In this moment I was less stressed and enjoying the day - mentally glowing!

The second picture is freshly postpartum. I was tired, worried, anxious, overjoyed, and exhausted. I felt all the feelings, and I was not taking time to care for myself. I was merely surviving, and I think you can tell.

The third picture is about 2-3 months in. I was still very tired and constantly anxious, but I had started to establish a routine for myself that helped me to relieve some stress, and I think you can see it in my face!

So, here are my mommy glow up tips:

💗give yourself grace even when you don’t think you deserve it

💗take time- REAL uninterrupted time- to do self care. Even if it’s just a 15 minute walk alone. If you have any way of having someone else be the primary care person for the baby, do it regularly even if it’s just for 15 minutes. I say primary care person because many mothers are single parents. If you have a partner who is active in your/baby’s life, make it clear to them that you need 15 minutes. Remember, they are a parent too! It’s not all your job.

💗set clear expectations with your partner if you are blessed with one. It can be hard to know what is expected of someone if it’s never communicated. I know it sounds simple, but MAKE SURE your partner knows that they are also responsible for parenting. Dad’s don’t “help out”, they “parent”. It’s what they are supposed to do; the bare minimum.

💗make it a priority to keep up with your hygiene every day. Brush your teeth, wash your face, brush your hair, get out of those PJs. It really does make a difference when you feel clean and ready to step outside the home, even if you don’t.

💗get help when you need it. Whether it’s PPD, PPA, or just stress in general, do not be afraid to reach out for help. Whether or not you have a village, there are people SOMEWHERE who are willing to help you.

Take care of yourself mamas. You’re doing your best, and you are a fantastic mom.

It’s more than just brushing your teeth; it’s about creating a moment. I found that investing in a nice face wash and a simple moisturizer made a huge difference. Even a quick 5-minute routine in the morning and before bed – washing my face, applying a serum, and a hydrating cream – made my skin feel loved and look brighter. Trust me, when you see that little bit of 'glowy skin' looking back at you, it's a mental boost that carries through the day. And don't underestimate the power of a quick hair brush and a spritz of dry shampoo! It sounds small, but these quick wins make you feel put-together, ready to tackle whatever comes your way, even if you’re still in your comfiest leggings. Beyond the quick beauty fixes, let's talk about fueling your body and mind. It’s hard to glow when you’re running on empty. I've learned to keep healthy, easy-to-grab snacks around the house – think fruit, nuts, or yogurt. Sometimes just having something nutritious within reach stops me from grabbing something less healthy when I'm exhausted. And hydration? A huge one! Keeping a water bottle handy and sipping throughout the day helps with energy and, yes, even that 'glowy skin' feeling. For those precious moments of uninterrupted self-care, even just 15 minutes, what do you do? I've experimented, and here are a few ideas: Mindful Movement: Instead of a full workout, try 10 minutes of gentle stretching or a quick yoga flow. There are tons of free apps or videos you can follow. It helps to release tension and gets your blood flowing. Sensory Reset: Light a scented candle, put on some calming music, and just sit. No scrolling, no chores, just *being*. It's amazing how much a few minutes of sensory calm can reset your mood. Quick Journaling: If you're feeling overwhelmed, jotting down a few thoughts or things you're grateful for can be incredibly therapeutic. It helps process emotions and shifts focus. This was crucial for me when I was navigating postpartum anxiety and trying to relieve stress. Finally, remember that seeking help isn't a sign of weakness; it's a superpower. Whether it’s reaching out to a friend, joining a mom's group, or talking to a professional, having a support system is vital. I truly believe that the happiest version of ourselves, the 'glowed up' version, is one where we feel supported and understood. Keep shining, mamas – you've got this!
