Feedback on nails I’ve done as a young nail tech!

Starting out as a young nail technician can be both exciting and challenging. When I began working on clients' nails, I quickly realized that every design and technique taught in school needed practical adjustments to match real-world situations. One important lesson I learned early on was the significance of proper nail prep, which directly affects the longevity of the manicure and the satisfaction of the client. Through trial and error, I discovered that paying close attention to cuticle care and buffing nails appropriately helps the polish adhere better and prevents premature chipping. Additionally, as a beginner nail tech, I found that experimenting with different nail shapes and lengths can improve hand aesthetics and client confidence. For example, offering customized shapes like oval or almond tailored to the client's lifestyle and finger shape enhances their overall satisfaction. Receiving feedback from clients and mentors has been invaluable. Constructive criticism helped me refine my brush control and polish application, reducing common issues like uneven layers or flooding the cuticle. I also began to explore trending designs on social platforms to expand my repertoire beyond basic manicures, integrating subtle gradients, delicate line art, and incorporated tiny gems thoughtfully. Equally important has been building communication skills to clearly understand each client’s preferences, ensuring that the nails I create reflect their personality and occasions perfectly. As I continue to grow, I embrace continuous learning through workshops and watching tutorials, realizing that every nail I do is a step closer to mastering this art. To fellow beginner nail techs, my advice is to be patient with your progress, remain open to feedback, and let each set of nails inspire you to improve your craft.
