Cleaning the climbing #silks #aerialsilks
Cleaning climbing silks and aerial silks regularly is essential to maintain their performance and safety. Based on my experience, I recommend using a gentle approach to preserve the fabric’s strength and texture. First, always check the care instructions provided by the manufacturer, as some silks may have specific washing requirements. For routine cleaning, hand washing in cold water with mild detergent works best. Avoid harsh chemicals or bleach, as they can weaken the fibers. After washing, rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residues. If machine washing is necessary, use a delicate cycle and place the silks in a mesh laundry bag to prevent tangling or damage. Drying should be air-based—never use a dryer. Hang the silks in a shaded area to avoid direct sunlight, which can degrade the fabric over time. Also, ensure the silks are fully dry before storing them to prevent mildew. Regularly inspect your silks for any signs of wear or damage, especially where they experience the most strain. Keeping them clean not only enhances grip and appearance but also contributes to your safety during performance or training. From personal experience, integrating these cleaning practices has helped prolong the life of my aerial silks and kept them feeling fresh and strong for every climb and routine.
