A Glass Artist Recap of 2024

It’s truly a journey to build a creative career, especially as a glass artist, and my GLASS ARTIST 2024 RECAP truly highlights the incredible progress possible in just one year! Looking back, it’s amazing to see how far I’ve come since first envisioning these goals. When I set out to build my own website, it felt like climbing a mountain. There were so many technical hurdles, design choices, and learning curves. But taking that leap to create a dedicated online home for my art was a game-changer. It’s not just about having a portfolio; it's about establishing a professional presence, sharing my story, and connecting directly with art enthusiasts and potential collectors from all over. My advice to any aspiring artist is to invest time in understanding how to best showcase your work online—it truly opens doors you never knew existed and allows your unique artistic voice to shine through. Getting accepted into a 'bucket list show' was another huge, exhilarating milestone that still gives me goosebumps! It wasn't just a stroke of luck; it was the culmination of countless hours spent in the studio, meticulously refining my technique, experimenting with new designs, and honestly, having the courage to put my most cherished pieces out there for public review. The application process itself can be daunting, filled with high stakes and vulnerability, but the sheer joy of receiving that acceptance letter, knowing your art resonated deeply with a discerning jury, is incredibly validating. It’s a powerful testament to how much an artist can grow when they continually challenge themselves and push the boundaries of their craft. And speaking of growth, that 'fake it 'til you make it' stage is so incredibly real, isn't it? I think every artist, no matter how seasoned or successful, grapples with moments of self-doubt or imposter syndrome. It’s that little voice questioning if your work is truly good enough. But my journey in 2024 firmly taught me the importance of embracing that uncertainty. It’s not about pretending to be perfect, but about having the confidence to keep learning, keep creating, and keep evolving. Every small step, every piece that didn't quite turn out, every challenge overcome, contributed to me becoming a more confident, skilled, and authentic artist. This continuous personal and artistic evolution is what keeps the passion alive. Looking ahead to 2025, I'm filled with so much excitement and new ideas. I’m eager to continue exploring innovative glass techniques, perhaps delving deeper into color theory or even trying larger installations.
