Week 6

148.4! I’m not going to get excited just yet. It’s only been one week since my Nexplanon was removed- it was working really good so good that my lady hormones were that of a woman who’s post menopausal.

I have gained 20 lbs in 3 years and it’s made it so hard to lose weight also among other things…

I haven’t got my first period (my last one was February 25’) so I’m really scared.

... Read moreRemoving Nexplanon can trigger notable hormonal changes that influence both weight and menstrual cycles. Many women experience shifts in their body's natural rhythm, including delayed periods or changes in flow. Weight gain during or after using Nexplanon is a common concern, often linked to hormonal fluctuations affecting metabolism and water retention. It’s important to remember that hormonal contraception like Nexplanon generally suppresses ovulation, and once removed, the body needs time to restore its natural cycle. This transition period can range from weeks to several months for periods to normalize. During this time, symptoms like mood swings, breast tenderness, or changes in appetite and weight may occur. To support this process, consider a balanced diet rich in whole foods and adequate protein to assist with weight management and hormonal balance. Regular physical activity can also aid metabolism and improve mood. Tracking menstrual cycles with apps or journals can help recognize when periods resume, providing reassurance during this waiting phase. If menstruation doesn’t return after a few months, or if unexpected symptoms arise, consulting a healthcare provider is essential to rule out underlying issues such as hormonal imbalances or other medical conditions. This stage is a personal journey filled with uncertainties, but understanding typical post-Nexplanon experiences and adopting supportive lifestyle habits can empower you to navigate the changes with confidence.
