Part three: what are we?
Uh oh… y’all been eating my man stories up, so here’s part three —
what are we?
I’m cruising with my dog, barking at traffic, vibing and feeling free ‘cause I got somebody feeling me.
And like he read my mind from miles away… my phone lights up.
“Hey.”
Next thing I know, I’m picking him up and we’re headed to Taco Bell for a late dinner.
I pull up and he’s already outside waiting. I think he’s gonna hop in the passenger seat like a normal person — but no. He walks around, opens my door, reaches in and unbuckles my seatbelt.
I’m like hold up — throw the car in park and kill it.
He grabs my hand and guides me out. The second I’m standing, we’re lost again in that blue-on-blue wave. Seeing his eyes makes me feel whole.
He doesn’t even kiss me at first — which would ’ve been fine — but instead he slides his arms under mine and gives me this warm, grounding hug. Then whispers:
“I missed you.”
A couple sweet kisses later, we finally get in the car and head to eat.
The whole drive he’s holding my free hand, talking about nothing.
I’m eating it up… ‘cause I missed him too.
We pull up, he kisses me again, and we head inside.
It’s empty — like two or three workers, nobody else. Perfect.
The girl taking our order clocks us instantly and goes,
“I’ll bring it over when it’s ready.”
We grab drinks and sit at this tiny table for two.
He hasn’t said much, but his smiles and stares are loud.
His leg curls into mine — almost footsies, except my whole leg ends up draped over his 😆
Finally he asks how my day was, eyes locked on mine. We’re both leaning in, elbows on the table, his hand rubbing my arm.
I say softly, “I missed you too.”
We’re about to kiss when we hear:
“Haha, sorry! Here’s your order… and don’t be embarrassed — me and my girlfriend make out here all the time. I think it’s in the air.”
We giggle, and then she adds:
“So… what are y’all? Together? Friends? Am I being nosy?”
I cough a little, caught off guard — but he answers with his whole chest:
“Just call us something special.”
She laughs, says enjoy your food, and walks off.
We look at each other like… this girl —
but what he said? Oof. That did something to me.
We finish eating. Legs tangled again. Hands touching. Silent, but loud.
I finally ask:
“So… what are we, though?”
He drops his smile and says,
“How the hell do you read my mind?”
I tell him I like him — a lot — and ask if I’m allowed to call him mine.
He sends me straight to meet God with his reply:
“Babe, I’ll meet your mom tomorrow if that’s what you want.”
Then he adds,
“I already told my mom about you. She was shocked it was a guy… but she said she could hear how happy I was.”
My eyes fill up. I try to speak and can’t.
He puts his finger to my lips and says,
“No… me first.”
“I love you.”
Floored — because that’s exactly what I was about to say.
He pulls me onto his lap and kisses me. I don’t care if I tasted nachos — it was us being extra cheesy 😆
We leave after a bit, and on the way out the same girl says:
“Have a great night… I don’t know what y’all got going on, but I felt it up my lady thighs.” 😂
I’m stunned. He’s giggling.
When I drop him off, he says it again with a goodnight kiss:
“I love you.”
I say it back.
Then he smirks and goes,
“Since I’ve been with you… I feel like you’ve been my glue.”
It hits me on the drive home and I cry — realizing he meant I’ve been holding him together.
And all I could say was:
“Thank you, Jesus. For real. Amen.” 🫠🤍✝️
