KL food diary — Day 4🇲🇾

... Read moreDuring my food journey in Kuala Lumpur, Day 4 was incredibly memorable thanks to the variety of flavors and unique culinary experiences. Starting at Restoran Jin Xuan Hong Kong in Damansara Jaya, I was eager to try their renowned dim sum. While it didn’t fully live up to the hype, the pork ribs and the xiao long bao (XLB) were definitely highlights that showcased traditional Cantonese craftsmanship. Next stop was Niko Neko Matcha 2.0 in Chinatown, a cafe that truly surprised me. As a matcha lover, I appreciated their innovative approach—especially the REN latte, which had a smooth umami richness, and the Ajisai 2.0, a perfectly balanced fusion of matcha and hojicha that wasn’t overly sweet. These drinks gave me a refreshing break from the savory dishes and were absolutely worth the visit. For seafood lovers, Yu Jia Ren Seafood Restaurant in Kuala Selangor style offered excellent value and taste. Ordering two crabs for RM 88 was a steal considering the quality. The standout dish was the fried marmite squid, which combined crispy texture with a deliciously savory marmite glaze that lingered on the palate. It reminded me how affordable seafood can be in Malaysia without compromising flavor. Ending the day at Mitsuyado Ramen in J’s Gate Dining introduced me to a hearty bowl of spicy Tsukemen. Initially, I had low expectations due to its moderate rating, but the thick noodles soaked in a rich, flavorful broth pleasantly surprised me. It’s a perfect spot for ramen enthusiasts seeking something different in KL. Overall, Day 4 of my KL food diary was all about discovering hidden gems and local favorites that blend authenticity with innovation. Whether you’re craving classic dim sum, specialty matcha drinks, affordable seafood, or satisfying ramen, Kuala Lumpur’s food scene offers an exciting variety. For anyone traveling here, I recommend exploring these spots for a fulfilling culinary adventure.
