🫶I can’t help but wonder…🫶
Been up sick all night & having some other health issues over the past couple of weeks…
A tad bit emotional this morning & reaching for the HEM OF HIS GARMENT….
I can’t help but wonder…
I wonder what it was like…
I wonder what it was like to Walk With Jesus in the physical!
We Walk With Jesus now, in the Spiritual, and it IS AN AMAZING WALK when we allow Him to lead us!!
However, I can’t help but to wonder exactly how the Physical and Spiritual Walks differ!?!
I feel Jesus now, on a daily… but, even with that…
my heart’s largest desire… is to feel Him MORE… to seek Him MORE… to physically feel the Hem of His Garment!!
To Hug His Neck! To look upon His Physical Face & to see the Love in His eyes He has for me!
Anyone else??
I think this longing I’m describing is something many believers have felt throughout history…
Peter walked beside Jesus…
John leaned against Him…
Mary sat at His feet…
Thomas touched His scars….
And yet… we have something they didn’t fully understand while He was physically on earth.
Jesus Himself said…
John 16:7 ~
“It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you.”
That statement has always amazed me. Imagine standing beside Jesus physically… and Jesus saying, “What is coming next is even better for you.”
When Jesus walked the earth physically, He was in one place at one time. The disciples had to travel to be with Him. If they were miles away, they couldn’t simply experience His presence.
Today…
His Spirit lives WITHIN EVERY believer.
He doesn’t merely walk beside us…
He walks WITHIN US! 🙌🏼
That doesn’t make our longing any less real, though…
I think the ache I feel… to hug His neck, to see His smile, to touch the hem of His garment…
is a HOLY HOMESICKNESS!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Scripture hints at it in Philippians 3, where Paul longed to know Christ more deeply, and in Romans 8, where creation itself groans for what is still to come.
One day, faith will become sight! 🙌🏼
One day…
We won’t have to imagine His face!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
You’ll see it!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
We won’t have to wonder how His voice sounds…
He’ll call your name! 🙌🏼
We won’t have to picture His embrace…
He’ll welcome us home! 🙌🏼
And I have a feeling that in that moment, every disappointment, every tear, every unanswered question, every painful season will melt away in the presence of the One who loved us before we ever knew His name! 🙌🏼
Until then…
Every time we open our Bible…
we’re hearing His heart! 🙌🏼
Every time we pray…
we’re speaking with Him! 🙌🏼
Every time the Holy Spirit gently nudges us…
that’s Jesus leading us! 🙌🏼
Every time we feel overwhelming peace in the middle of chaos…
that’s His presence wrapping around us! 🙌🏼
I don’t think it’s wrong to whisper…
“Jesus… I want more of You.”
In fact, I think He delights in that prayer.
It reminds me of David’s cry…
Psalm 27:4 ~
“One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after…”
And Moses’ bold request…
Exodus 33:18 ~
“Please, show me Your glory.”
Neither man was satisfied with yesterday’s encounter… they wanted more.
And that sounds exactly like our hearts! 🙌🏼
One thought has always moved me…
When the woman with the issue of blood reached for the Hem of His Garment… she was desperate just to touch His clothing.
Yet because of the cross, Jesus has brought us even closer than that! 🙌🏼
We don’t have to reach for the edge of His robe…
He has made His home WITHIN US through His Spirit! 🙌🏼
Even so, there is still a beautiful anticipation that remains…
The day is coming when faith will give way to sight.
The first time our eyes meet His…
I don’t think we’ll need words! 🙌🏼
I think every prayer we’ve ever prayed, every tear we’ve ever cried, every moment we’ve longed for Him… will be answered in one breathtaking glance! 🙌🏼
And I have a feeling…
He’s looking forward to that reunion even more than we are!
1 John 3:2 ~
“Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when He appears we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him as He is.”
Until Then…
What a day that will be! 🙌🏼💚🙌🏼
