Luke 10:33 ~
“But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him.”
Good Sunday Morning, Friends!
Y’all ever been so busy trying to get somewhere that you barely notice what’s happening around you?
You’ve got places to go.
People to see.
A to-do list longer than a Sunday afternoon nap! 😂
And then…
SOMEBODY NEEDS SOMETHING.
A phone call.
An unexpected conversation.
Somebody needing a little encouragement.
And your first thought is…
“Lord, I do NOT have time for this today!”
Well, pull up a chair, because Jesus told a story about that very thing.
In Luke chapter 10, a man was traveling from Jerusalem to Jericho when robbers attacked him, stripped him, beat him, and left him half dead.
A priest came along.
He saw the wounded man.
And passed by on the other side.
Then a Levite came.
He saw him too.
And kept walking.
But then came a Samaritan.
Someone the people listening to Jesus might never have expected to be the hero of this story.
And when he saw that wounded man…
HE STOPPED.
He didn’t just feel sorry for him.
He treated his wounds.
He lifted him onto his own animal.
He brought him somewhere safe.
And he made arrangements for his continued care.
COMPASSION DIDN’T JUST CROSS HIS MIND… IT CHANGED HIS DIRECTION! 🙌🏼
Now, here’s what grabbed my heart..
All three men were traveling.
All three encountered the same need.
But only one allowed what he saw to change what he did.
And that makes me wonder…
How many opportunities to love somebody have we walked right past because we were too focused on our own plans?
Maybe it’s the coworker who’s unusually quiet.
The elderly neighbor who just wants somebody to listen.
The mama who’s smiling on the outside but barely holding herself together.
Or the stranger who needs a kind word more than we’ll ever know.
Friend, sometimes we’re looking for some BIG assignment from God while overlooking the opportunity right in front of us! 🙌🏼
We want to do something extraordinary for His Kingdom.
But sometimes Kingdom work looks like an ordinary person choosing to care.
🤍YOU DON’T HAVE TO STAND BEHIND A PULPIT TO MINISTER TO SOMEBODY🤍
You can minister in a grocery store.
In a waiting room.
At your kitchen table.
Or through a simple message that says, “Hey, you’ve been on my heart. Are you okay?”
Now, this doesn’t mean we have to meet every need or abandon every responsibility.
Even Jesus withdrew to rest and pray.
But it does mean we should keep our hearts tender enough to recognize when love is asking us to stop.
Because sometimes…
THE PERSON YOU ALMOST WALKED PAST IS THE PERSON GOD IS CALLING YOU TO LOVE! 🙌🏼
And THAT, my friends, is worth rearranging a few minutes of our day!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼

When was the last time you stopped what you were doing just to make somebody else feel seen, heard, or loved?
And here’s another thought…
What if that interruption you’ve been frustrated about is actually an opportunity to show somebody the love of Jesus?
Jesus, forgive me for the times I’ve been too busy to notice someone hurting. Open my eyes to the people around me. Give me a compassionate heart, willing hands, and the wisdom to recognize where You are calling me to serve. Help me love people not just with my words, but with my actions. Let somebody experience Your kindness through me today. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen! 🤍
💚ONE LAST CRUMB BEFORE YOU GO…💚
The Samaritan didn’t have to know the wounded man’s name to show him kindness.
He didn’t have to know his story.
He didn’t have to agree with everything about him.
HE JUST HAD TO RECOGNIZE THAT SOMEBODY WAS HURTING! 🙌🏼
So before you rush through this beautiful Sunday…
Look around.
Pay attention.
Love somebody.
Because the most meaningful thing you do today might not be on your calendar.
DON’T STEP OVER YOUR ASSIGNMENT! 🙌🏼
Sometimes the interruption IS the assignment!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼

Reflecting on the message about not stepping over your assignment, I’ve found that the most meaningful moments often come unexpectedly during our busiest days. Like Stacey’s story inspired by Luke 10:33, the act of stopping to care for someone in need truly changes the course of both their lives and ours. In my own experience, there have been times when I was so focused on completing tasks or rushing to the next obligation that I almost missed someone silently asking for help nearby. For example, once while running errands, I noticed an elderly woman struggling with her groceries. Though I felt pressed for time, I chose to stop and assist her. That small act sparked a heartfelt conversation that brightened both our days and reminded me that compassion requires presence. What resonates deeply is the idea that Kingdom work is not always about grand gestures; sometimes it’s the simple choice to acknowledge someone’s pain or loneliness. We don’t need to hold a formal role or platform to minister love — it can happen in waiting rooms, grocery stores, or even through a thoughtful message checking in on a friend. I’ve learned that interruptions, which initially feel like hindrances, are often divine invitations to put love into action. They help us cultivate a tender heart willing to serve amid life’s chaos. This perspective has encouraged me to look around more attentively and embrace opportunities to be the 'Good Samaritan' in daily life. So next time you face a busy day, remember Stacey’s powerful reminder: the interruption might just be your true assignment. Don’t rush past the chance to make someone feel seen, heard, and loved — these moments are blessings in disguise and essential expressions of faith in action.
