🤍Sometimes Obedience Takes You Straight Into Rough Waters🤍

Matthew 14:22 ~

“And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side…”

HAPPY TUESDAY MORNING, FRIENDS! 💚

Now, y’all pull up a chair because there’s something in this Scripture I don’t want us to miss…

Jesus told His disciples to get into the boat and head to the other side.

They weren’t running from God.

They weren’t being rebellious.

They weren’t making some terrible decision.

THEY WERE DOING EXACTLY WHAT JESUS TOLD THEM TO DO! 🙌🏼

And guess what happened?

A STORM…

The wind was contrary.

The waves were tossing their boat.

And there they were, struggling in the middle of the sea.

Now, wait just a minute…

Didn’t JESUS tell them to get into that boat?!

YES, HE DID…

And that’s what I want somebody to understand today…

NOT EVERY STORM IS A SIGN YOU TOOK A WRONG TURN! 🙌🏼

Sometimes you’re walking in obedience, and life STILL gets difficult.

You can be praying and still face problems.

You can be trusting God and still have unanswered questions.

You can be following His direction and still encounter opposition.

DIFFICULTY DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY MEAN DISOBEDIENCE.

But here’s the beautiful part of this story…

In Matthew 14:25, Jesus came to them, walking on the sea.

The very waves that were troubling the disciples were beneath His feet! 🙌🏼

WHEWWWW…

And when they were afraid, Jesus spoke…

“Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.” ~ Matthew 14:27

Friend, the storm didn’t surprise Jesus.

And He hadn’t forgotten about those disciples.

Maybe today you’re questioning a decision you made because things haven’t gone the way you expected.

Maybe you’re wondering whether you heard God correctly.

Maybe you’ve been thinking, “Lord, if I’m doing what You asked me to do, why is this so HARD?”

I can’t tell you why every storm comes.

But I CAN remind you of this…

THE PRESENCE OF TROUBLE DOESN’T MEAN THE ABSENCE OF GOD! 🙌🏼

So don’t abandon your faith just because the wind picked up…

Keep praying.

Keep listening.

Keep trusting.

And remember WHO has authority over the waves.

🧺Bread Basket🧺

Have you ever questioned whether you were following God’s direction simply because things became difficult?

Jesus, help me remember that following You doesn’t mean life will always be easy. When the winds rise and fear tries to take over, remind me that You are near. Give me wisdom to recognize Your direction, courage to obey, and peace when I cannot see what lies ahead. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

💚ONE LAST CRUMB BEFORE YOU GO…💚

The disciples didn’t end up in that storm because they ignored Jesus.

They encountered the storm after obeying Him.

And the One who sent them across the water came to them in the middle of it.

So if today gets a little rocky…

Don’t immediately assume you’ve missed God.

THE STORM DOESN’T MEAN YOU MISSED GOD! 🙌🏼

Sometimes you’re simply learning to trust Him in deeper waters.

... Read moreLife’s storms often leave us questioning whether we’ve made the right choices, especially when those storms arise despite obeying God’s guidance. Reflecting on Matthew 14:22, where Jesus commands His disciples to enter the boat despite the coming storm, I’ve learned that challenges don’t always signal failure or abandonment of faith. In fact, sometimes they are part of the journey that deepens our trust and reliance on God. From personal experience, obedience has not always meant smooth sailing. At times, following God’s direction has led me into uncertain, uncomfortable situations—like the disciples tossed by the wind and waves mid-sea. This passage reassures me that storms are not signs of God’s absence but opportunities to witness His presence more powerfully. The waves may be fierce, but Jesus is always near, walking above the chaos. When I face difficulties despite sincere prayer and trust, I remind myself that faith is about perseverance and courage, not the absence of hardship. The reassurance I find in Jesus’s words, "Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid," offers peace amid anxiety and uncertainty. Trusting God in the storm means acknowledging His authority over every wave and believing that He is working all things together for good—even when the path is unclear. Keeping this mindset has helped me move forward without fear, knowing that obedience sometimes leads through rough waters before reaching the other side. It invites us to embrace the journey, drawing closer to God in our moments of vulnerability and learning to trust Him deeper than ever before. So if life’s storm clouds roll in, don’t doubt your direction—remember, the storm doesn’t mean you missed God; it might simply be a sacred passage to deeper faith.
