This includes blocking numbers, unfollowing, and adjusting privacy settings. 2. **Prepare for Hoovering**: Be ready for attempts by the abuser to reconnect, known as 'hoovering'. They may try to manipulate you into responding; having a plan helps you stay firm. 3. **Go No Contact Mentally**: It’s essential not only to cut off physical contact but also to mentally detach from the relationship. This involves shifting your focus towards self-care and self-love. 4. **Have a Response Plan for Triggers**: Identify situations or thoughts that might provoke a response from you and strategize how to deal with them. This could be having supportive friends to talk to or grounding techniques to stay centered. 5. **Build a Life They’re Not Part Of**: Focus on creating new experiences and relationships that enhance your life without the toxic person. This helps in reclaiming your identity and joy. The journey of going no contact is empowering and crucial for recovery from emotionally draining relationships.
