✨You are going to want to save this recipe! These rolls are so soft and fluffy and perfect for any meal!
✨Your going to need these ingredients:
•3/4 room temp buttermilk
•2 1/2 tbsp honey
•3 tbsp softened butter
•1 room temp egg
•1 tsp salt
•3 cups or 360 grams of bread flour
•2 tsp instant yeast
✨You can make this two ways depending on what you have! I made mine in the “Kitchen in a box” bread maker that I got off of the TikTok shop https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTH76muq4A7HP-91bzm/ OR you can make this with your mixer, wether it’s kitchen aid or Hamilton beach or whatever you have!
✨Whatever you have you’ll want to add the ingredients into the bowl in the exact order of the ingredient list!
✨Once you get to the bread flour you’ll want to make sure it’s covering all the ingredients that are under it and then you’ll want to make a little well for the yeast to then sit down into!
✨If you’re using the bread maker it will run for 23 minutes (on the raw dough setting 11) and then it will stop. Don’t open it just yet. Let that dough set in the bread maker for 45 minutes. If you’re using a mixer let it mix for the 23 minutes and once it’s done just cover the mixer with a towel and continue with the rest of the steps like normal!
✨Once that time is up pull your dough out and weigh it, take whatever the weight it is and divide it by 12. That way you’ll have 12 even rolls.
✨Take each one and gently roll into a smooth ball. You’ll want to grease a 9” X 13” baking dish and put your rolls in it! Cover with a towel and let those rise for 30 minutes.
✨Once that time is up you’ll preheat your over to 350. When it’s finished preheating you will put your rolls in the oven for 18-20 minutes or until golden on the top. I took mine out about halfway and added some melted butter to the tops of them!
✨Now enjoy your freshly baked homemade buttermilk rolls!

... Read moreOkay, so you've just whipped up a batch of those incredible homemade buttermilk rolls, and I'm telling you, there's nothing quite like the smell of fresh bread baking! But guess what? There’s even more magic you can create with these beauties, and a few little tricks to make sure every single batch is absolutely perfect.
First, let's talk about making sure your homemade rolls are always a hit. I’ve learned a few things over time:
Don't Rush the Rise: Patience is key! If your kitchen is a bit cool, try placing your dough in a slightly warm (but not hot!) spot, like near a sunny window or in an oven that's been briefly warmed and turned off. A slow rise often means a more flavorful and airy roll.
Measure Flour Accurately: This is a big one. Too much flour can make your rolls dense and dry. If possible, weigh your flour (like the recipe suggests with 360 grams for 3 cups) for the most consistent results. If you don't have a scale, spoon your flour into the measuring cup and level it off, rather than scooping directly from the bag.
The Kneading Sweet Spot: Whether you're using a bread maker or a stand mixer, don't over-knead, but don't under-knead either. The 23 minutes suggested is a good guide. You want the dough to be smooth and elastic. A good test is the 'windowpane test' – take a small piece of dough and gently stretch it; if you can stretch it thin enough to see light through it without tearing, it's usually ready.
Now, once you've mastered the basic homemade roll, why not try some delicious variations?
Garlic Butter Perfection: Before baking, brush your rolls with melted butter mixed with a pinch of garlic powder and dried parsley. It adds an amazing savory kick!
Sweet Honey-Glazed Rolls: For a sweeter touch, warm a tablespoon of honey with a tiny bit of butter and brush it over the rolls immediately after they come out of the oven.
Herb-Infused Rolls: Mix a tablespoon of finely chopped fresh rosemary or thyme into your dough during the last few minutes of kneading for an aromatic twist.
Wondering what to pair these fantastic rolls with? They're so versatile!
Classic Dinner Side: Of course, they're perfect with any meal, from roasted chicken to a hearty stew.
Breakfast Delight: Split them open, toast lightly, and spread with jam, butter, or even a little cream cheese for a decadent breakfast.
Mini Sandwiches: Use them as soft, pillowy buns for sliders – think pulled pork or mini beef patties.
And finally, let's talk about keeping your beautiful homemade rolls fresh and enjoying them even longer!
Storage: Once cooled, store them in an airtight container or a large zip-top bag at room temperature for up to 2-3 days.
Freezing Baked Rolls: For longer storage, let the rolls cool completely, then place them in a freezer-safe bag. They'll keep well for up to 2-3 months. To reheat, thaw at room temperature, then warm in a 350°F (175°C) oven for about 5-10 minutes, or until soft and heated through.
Freezing Dough: You can even freeze the dough! After the first rise, shape the rolls, then place them on a baking sheet and flash freeze until solid. Transfer to a freezer bag. When ready to bake, thaw overnight in the fridge, then let them come to room temperature and rise in a greased baking dish before baking as usual.
These extra tips and tricks will ensure your homemade rolls are always a highlight at your table!
