Matcha is good, just not yours

I feel like there’s so many hot takes on matcha and honestly, I’m slightly offended lol. Matcha is delicious, but the Aesthetically pleasing ones are probably the ones that are not that great (I could be wrong). I say this because I’m a avid matcha drinker and most of my cups look like grass chalk. I may not post but definitely had matcha that looks like the best matcha in the world but tastes like garbage.

You have to tweak it to your liking, just like coffee.

It’s okay to not like matcha but plz don’t slander the name 🥲

... Read moreMatcha is a finely ground powder of specially grown and processed green tea leaves, traditionally used in Japanese tea ceremonies. While matcha is praised for its vibrant green color and health benefits, its taste can vary widely depending on its grade, preparation, and personal preference. High-grade matcha is often smoother and sweeter with subtle umami notes, whereas lower grades can taste more bitter or 'grassy', which may be off-putting to some drinkers. To improve your matcha experience, experimenting with different additives can be helpful. Popular variations include adding coconut milk for a creamy texture, or flavoring with vanilla or brown sugar syrup to balance bitterness and add sweetness. These customizations make matcha an excellent summer drink, refreshing and flavorful. Preparation technique also plays a crucial role. Using water that's not too hot (ideally around 160-175°F or 70-80°C) helps preserve flavor without making the matcha bitter. Whisking properly with a bamboo whisk to create a frothy, smooth consistency enhances the taste and presentation. It's important to remember that taste is subjective—what appeals to one matcha lover might not to another. Much like coffee, matcha requires personal tweaking to discover your perfect cup. Rather than dismissing matcha based on a few bad experiences, exploring different grades, preparation methods, and flavor additions can turn it into a delightful ritual. Ultimately, matcha remains a versatile and nutrient-rich beverage with a growing global following, celebrated for its antioxidant content and sustained energy boost. Don't be discouraged by initial off-putting tastes; embracing the versatility of matcha can lead to discovering a version you truly enjoy.
