... Read moreHey everyone! I totally get where the original post is coming from. Diving into the magical world created by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti can be an absolute blast, but figuring out the best reading order for their interconnected series like Zodiac Academy and Ruthless Boys? That's a whole different challenge! I've been there, staring at my bookshelf, trying to decide if I should power through all of Zodiac Academy first, or if it's better to jump back and forth with Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac. It's almost as intricate as the Fae politics within the books themselves! Let's talk about 'Dark Fae' for a moment, since it often comes up in these discussions. The cover alone, with its stunning purple-haired woman and intense red lipstick, immediately pulls you into the world of Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti. It's truly eye-catching, making you want to pick it up and discover the story within. But then you start wondering, 'Where does 'Dark Fae' fit into the grand scheme of things?' It’s part of the wider Fae universe they’ve built, and understanding its place can really enhance your reading experience. The main confusion usually stems from how 'Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac' connects to the main 'Zodiac Academy' series. Essentially, 'Ruthless Boys' is a spin-off series, set in the same universe but following different characters and events, often happening concurrently with parts of 'Zodiac Academy'. Some readers swear by reading all of 'Zodiac Academy' (books 1-8) first, then moving onto 'Ruthless Boys'. This approach gives you the full, uninterrupted main story arc, allowing you to immerse yourself completely in Tory and Darcy's journey before exploring the side characters' perspectives. For those who find switching between series disruptive, this might be the smoothest path. However, another popular method, and one that often feels more 'intertwined' as the original poster mentioned, is to read them chronologically by publication date or by specific events. This usually means reading the first few 'Zodiac Academy' books, then slotting in 'Ruthless Boys' books, and then finishing 'Zodiac Academy'. This can offer a richer, more comprehensive view of the world as events unfold from different angles, but it can also be jarring, as the original post points out. It's like switching your brain from one set of characters and their immediate dilemmas to another, sometimes mid-arc. My personal advice, if you're struggling like the author of this post, is to try the 'Zodiac Academy first, then Ruthless Boys' approach. It simplifies the experience and ensures you don't miss any crucial plot points in the main saga. Once you're done with the core 'Zodiac Academy' story, you can then fully dive into the 'Ruthless Boys' series, including books like 'Dark Fae', knowing all the background context. It allows you to appreciate the depth of Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti's world-building without feeling lost. Ultimately, there's no single 'right' answer, and it often comes down to personal preference. What works for one Fae fan might not work for another. Have you found a reading order that totally clicked for you? Or perhaps you have some 'ruthless fae series order' tips to share that made the experience seamless? I'd love to hear your thoughts and help fellow readers navigate this fantastic, yet complex, literary universe!
