Sometimes the richest people can be the poorest.

You can look at someone’s life and wish you had that, but you don’t see behind closed does, what they don’t post or talk about. Some people are unhappy, just like I was even when I “had it all.”

Being a hoarder cost me more than money could buy, it cost me my mental health.

So if I ever get “rich” you won’t see it in designer clothes or nice cars. But I promise you’ll see it in non material ways 🫶🏽🥲

Hoarding isn’t just accumulating things; it’s a way of thinking that leads to cluttered spaces and even more cluttered minds. This mental burden often traps individuals in cycles of anxiety, shame, and hopelessness. I used to think that having 'it all'—designer clothes, fancy cars, or a lavish lifestyle—would bring happiness, but the reality was very different. Behind every seemingly perfect life, hidden struggles can thrive, including loneliness and mental health challenges. Hoarding made me realize how important it is to appreciate non-material wealth such as peace of mind, self-understanding, and emotional freedom. One crucial step in my healing was embracing the mindset that "rich vs poor" isn't always about financial status. Sometimes, those who appear rich on the outside are the poorest inside. Letting go of possessions and negative attachments felt like praying for a fresh start, appreciating the ordinary, and understanding what truly matters in life. For anyone dealing with hoarding or struggling with mental health, remember that recovery is possible. Controlling entitlement to possessions and changing thinking patterns can help you create positive change. Getting support—whether through therapy, clean-with-me sessions, or community groups—can be transformative. In my experience, the richest form of wealth is freedom from the chaos hoarding creates—an inner peace that no money can buy. This journey has inspired me to spread awareness through hashtags like #hoarding, #mentalhealth, and #letsgetittogether, encouraging others to start their path toward mental wellness and clarity. True richness is found not in what you own but in how you feel and connect with life.
