being sick before the holidays 🥱

tis the sick season <33

I’ve been sick this week with a cough, headache, sneezing, congestion, fever, chills, body aches, and the list goes on.

Went to the doctor after 2 days of symptoms and tested negative for everything. I was told there is some viral cold going around that is mimicking flu and COVID. after 4 long days of fever and aches I am finally on the mend. here’s what I have been doing:

1. tart cherry juice- not really for the sickness I just love it and it makes me want to drink water after a glass

2. Emergen-C with vitamin D & zinc (I usually start taking this around August until the end of “cold and flu season”

3. Mucus relief medicine and tylenol PM at night to help me sleep better

4. I am currently on a z-pack so I’m just doing doctors orders with that one

5. humidifier nightly (iykyk)

6. making my own bone broth soup to keep me hydrated and fed with protein. this week I made egg drop soup with chicken bone broth and it soothed my sick body and my soul. plus it took minimal effort and only 10 minutes.

7. lysol and clorox wipes everyday, all day to keep everyone else in the house from getting it

... Read moreThe holiday season is often a time for celebration, but it can also bring on seasonal illnesses that can ruin your plans. With viral colds resembling flu and COVID becoming increasingly common, it’s vital to know how to combat these ailments effectively. One of the key components in maintaining your health during this time is hydration. Incorporating fluids that pack a nutritional punch, such as tart cherry juice, not only helps keep you hydrated but may also improve your recovery. Furthermore, vitamin C and zinc supplements like Emergen-C can bolster your immune system when taken regularly, especially leading into colder months. Rest is equally important. Make sure to prioritize sleep, as it aids in recovery, enabling your body to heal effectively. Medicines for mucus relief and nighttime pain relief can also assist in easing symptoms. When preparing meals, focus on comforting and nutritional options that are easy to prepare, like homemade bone broth soups. These can provide warmth and nourishment that soothe your body and may contribute to a quicker recovery. Additionally, maintaining a clean environment is crucial during cold and flu season. Regularly disinfecting surfaces with Lysol and Clorox wipes helps minimize the risk of spreading germs, protecting not just yourself but those around you. In summary, as you navigate the challenges of being sick before the holidays, remember to stay hydrated, rest adequately, eat comforting foods, and keep your surroundings clean. By incorporating these practices, you can help prevent illness during the festive time and enjoy the season to its fullest.
