is $400 skincare really worth it? 🫧
I worked in dermatology for 6 years, 4 of those being as a medical aesthetician specializing in product ingredients. some of the skin care in the first picture are almost $300 FOR ONE PRODUCT!! I used these because they were medical grade and why wouldn’t a $300 cream make my face look perfect? these are just some leftover products I have not thrown away yet but you get the idea.
the second picture are products i’ve been using for the past few months and my skin has never been clearer and glowy in all my life!! the most expensive product in line up 2 was $19.99!!!
I am not saying medical skincare isn’t worth it, it just wasn’t worth it for my skin.

When it comes to skincare, many consumers often wonder if investing in high-priced products really pays off. Medical-grade skincare, such as brands like SkinMedica and Revision, typically tout advanced formulations that can justify their steep price tags. These products often contain potent ingredients aimed at addressing specific skin concerns. However, is pricier always better? Interestingly, many users have reported significant improvements with more affordable options, leading to a rising interest in budget-friendly skincare solutions. For instance, products like COSRX and The Ordinary have gained popularity for their effective formulations at a fraction of the cost. Moreover, the efficacy of skincare can depend on individual skin types and issues. A product that works wonders for one person may not yield the same results for another. As a result, it is essential to prioritize understanding one’s skin needs rather than solely relying on the price tag. Incorporating a mix of both high- and low-end products could be a smart approach to building an effective skincare regimen while staying budget-conscious. Additionally, being aware of changing trends and ingredients can help consumers make informed decisions, keeping an eye on product reviews and dermatologist recommendations. Exploring options like snail mucin and ceramides might offer surprising benefits without breaking the bank. Ultimately, choosing the right skincare should factor in not just the price, but also the ingredients, personal skin type, and overall skincare goals. Researching and testing various products is key to finding the best fit for your skin's needs.
