Is it really wrong for me to sleep until 8 am?

" I've been struggling with something and I could use some perspective. I recently became a new parent, and amidst all the advice about sleep schedules, I find myself wondering: is it really so bad if I sleep until 8 am?

I know the conventional wisdom says babies wake up early, but I've been told I should wake up earlier to get things done before my little one wakes up. However, I cherish those extra moments of rest and sanity.

Am I setting myself up for a harder day by sleeping in a bit, or is it okay to prioritize my own sleep too? Would love to hear from other parents who have navigated this! #NewParentStruggles #SleepDeprivation #ParentingAdvice

While conventional wisdom might suggest rising early to be productive and prepare for the day's tasks, sleep deprivation can lead to fatigue and stress, impacting your ability to parent effectively. It’s important to acknowledge the value of self-care, especially in the early stages of parenthood. Prioritizing your sleep can help restore your energy and improve your overall well-being, enabling you to be more engaged with your child while also reducing stress. It's normal to crave those extra moments of rest, and many parents share the same struggle. Sleep experts suggest that there is no one-size-fits-all answer; every family has different needs and schedules. If your baby is sleeping soundly and you have the opportunity to catch some extra Z's, it can be beneficial for your mental health. Consider discussing sleep routines with fellow parents in your community to gather varied perspectives on balancing rest and parenting responsibilities. Ultimately, it’s about finding the right rhythm that works for you and your family.

You do what’s best for you! I other people have opinions of their own but every child and mom is different. Your body needs rest to heal, do not feel guilty about sleeping in till 8, to me that’s a good time honestly. If you are able to get things done while the baby is awake then do that but if you find it impossible to get things done then maybe you can consider waiting until nap time or you can wake up earlier if you want to. If you need a sleep schedule i definitely recommend the pampers sleep app! You can do a free trial, get the baby on that sleep schedule and then cancel it after you find a schedule best for you. I did that with my second child and she has been on a constant sleep schedule ever since! She is now 2. She has been sleeping through the night since maybe 4 months. My first child had no schedule and we were exhausted all the time until he turned 3 and started preschool
