New Cleanser for Oily Skin!! 🙌🏾

🚨 NEW PRODUCT ALERT 🚨

La Roche-Posay recently released the Effaclar Supramolecular Oil & Pores Jelly Cleanser, a daily foaming cleanser designed for oily, shiny and combination skin. 🩵

Its refreshing jelly texture transforms into a rich foam to thoroughly cleanse the skin, remove visible shine and reduce the appearance of pores without feeling drying.

🔬 WHAT’S INSIDE?

✨ Salicylic Acid: Exfoliates inside the pores to help remove excess oil and dead skin.

✨ Niacinamide: Supports the skin barrier and helps soothe visible irritation.

✨ Zinc PCA: Helps manage excess oil and shine.

La Roche-Posay says its new “supramolecular technology” combines salicylic acid and niacinamide in a targeted delivery system to improve their combined oil-control benefits. However, the exact percentages are not disclosed.

⭐ OVERALL FORMULA RATING: 4 OUT OF 5

This is strictly a formula-based rating because I have not personally tested the cleanser yet.

As someone with oily, acne-prone skin, the combination of salicylic acid, niacinamide and Zinc PCA immediately caught my attention. However, my skin is also sensitive and my barrier becomes irritated easily.

The formula contains sodium laureth sulfate and added fragrance, so those are two things I would monitor carefully. My skin also tends to prefer PHA over BHA, even though salicylic acid is commonly recommended for oily, acne-prone skin.

One positive for my personal sensitivity list is that I did not find mushrooms, yeast/Saccharomyces, ferments, beta-glucan, oats or colloidal oatmeal in the current ingredient list. 🙌🏾

If I decide to test it, I would start with only two or three uses per week instead of immediately using it twice daily. I would also avoid using it on the same nights as tretinoin or my glycolic and lactic acid treatments.

More exfoliation does not automatically mean better results, especially when you have sensitive skin. A cleanser can still contribute to your overall exfoliation load, even though it gets rinsed off.

Would you try this new cleanser, or would the fragrance and stronger foaming ingredients make you pass? 👇🏾 Available on La Roche Posay website 🩵

... Read moreHaving oily and acne-prone skin myself, I've always been cautious about trying new cleansers that claim to control oil and reduce pores. The Effaclar Supramolecular Jelly Cleanser by La Roche-Posay stands out because it combines potent ingredients like salicylic acid, niacinamide, and Zinc PCA with a refreshing jelly texture that foams richly. From experience, salicylic acid is excellent for deep pore exfoliation, helping to clear blocked pores and reduce blemishes, but it can sometimes be irritating for sensitive skin. That's why the inclusion of niacinamide is a major plus—it helps calm the skin and strengthen the skin barrier, which is essential if you experience redness or irritation. What really piques my interest is the “supramolecular technology” La Roche-Posay uses to deliver these actives effectively, although the exact concentrations aren’t disclosed. A cleanser that removes excess oil without stripping moisture is key for me, and the absence of ingredients like mushrooms, ferments, and beta-glucan reduces the risk of unwanted sensitivity reactions on my part. However, I’m also aware that sodium laureth sulfate and fragrance in the formula could be potential irritants, especially for sensitive skin types. If I were to incorporate this cleanser into my routine, I’d start slow—using it just two or three times a week and steering clear of using it on nights when I apply stronger exfoliating acids like glycolic or lactic acid, or prescription treatments such as tretinoin. Over-exfoliation is something I’ve learned to avoid to prevent compromising my skin barrier. The foaming aspect is enjoyable and provides a sense of a thorough cleanse, but for some, especially those with very sensitive or dry areas, this could be too stripping. Despite that, the overall formula's rating of 4 out of 5 aligns with what I look for: effective oil control combined with skin barrier support. If you're struggling with oily, shiny skin and want to minimize pore appearance without harsh dryness, this cleanser might be worth a try. Always patch test first and adjust frequency based on your skin's response. For me, balancing exfoliation and hydration remains essential to achieving a healthy glow without irritation.
