Planning the layout was a puzzle in itself – trying to maximize storage in such a compact space while keeping it functional and aesthetically pleasing. I opted for a mix of overhead storage and lower units, thinking about how I'll use each section. Deciding on the right hardware and finishes also took some time, but I'm so happy with the choices. It's amazing how much a good set of cabinets can transform an empty shell into a practical living house. Next up for the cabinets will be adding small latches to keep everything secure when I'm on the road. Then there's the electricity – oh, the electricity! This was definitely one of the more intimidating parts of the build. I knew I wanted to be able to power my essentials, from charging devices to running a small fridge. I've been working with a specialist to map out the solar panels, battery bank, and inverter system. It's a complex dance of wires and components, but seeing the lights flicker on for the first time was pure magic. Getting this right is crucial for off-grid living, and I'm learning so much about wattage, amperage, and safety precautions along the way. It’s definitely not just dangling wires anymore! The walls have also seen a massive transformation. We added new topping to ensure proper insulation and a cozy feel. I spent ages choosing the right material, wanting something durable but also light and bright to make the van feel more spacious. The new panels are in, and it's incredible how much warmer and quieter the interior feels now. It's these details that truly make it feel less like a vehicle and more like a home. Every step, from framing to finishing, has been a labor of love. There are still things to do, of course, but looking at how far this camper has come, it's truly inspiring.
