We rely a lot on apps, but also on local knowledge and just having a good sense of our surroundings. The goal is always to be respectful and leave no trace. There was one memorable night, a truly 'Cold Night', where we ended up in a parking lot. It wasn't glamorous, but with our setup, we were surprisingly cozy inside. Keeping Daisy, my 'sweet girl,' warm and 'comfortable' is always my top priority, and that means extra blankets, good insulation, and sometimes, a little portable heater for those extra chilly evenings. Speaking of cozy, let's talk about food! You saw me making chili, and yes, 'I LOVE CHILI'! It’s such a perfect van life meal – hearty, warm, and easy to make in one pot. My go-to recipe is packed with beans, ground beef (or lentils for a veggie option!), tomatoes, and a secret blend of spices. I usually pre-chop some veggies to save space and time. It’s amazing how a hot bowl of chili can transform a simple 'DINNER' into a comforting experience, especially when the weather outside is brisk. It truly feels like home, no matter where we're parked. Living in a van with Daisy is an adventure every single day. She's my 'Mama's Baby', and 'I LOVE DAISY, SHE'S SO CUTE'! People often ask about her routine. It's more flexible than a traditional home, but we try to keep some structure. Mornings often involve waking up to a new view, lots of cuddles, and a simple breakfast. We have a designated play area in the van, and when the weather permits, we're outside exploring. Keeping her entertained and safe is a constant consideration, but seeing her experience new places and sights makes every effort worth it. Van life is all about embracing simplicity and finding joy in the small things. It's not always sunshine and perfect campsites; there are days that are a bit more rugged.
