Dating as a single mom?👎🏽
Ever since I’ve had my babies it seems hard to date and the new dating pool sucks . Plus I work from home so now I feel like idk how to even talk to ppl . Idk I need some kind of advice from others who are in my shoes . Any advice????🤔
I completely get where you're coming from! Dating as a single mom can feel like navigating a whole new galaxy, let alone just a new dating pool. It’s tough enough balancing work, kids, and personal time, let alone trying to figure out how to even talk to people again, especially after working from home. I've been there, feeling like the old me who could easily chat up anyone just vanished! First off, let's acknowledge that the 'new dating pool' is different. Many single moms, myself included, have encountered situations like those direct, sometimes jarring, dating invitations via text that lack any initial pleasantries. It can feel like people forget we’re looking for a genuine connection, not just a quick meet-up. It's frustrating when you're looking for something real, and the approach feels so casual or even disrespectful. My advice? Don't be afraid to set your boundaries early. It's okay to politely decline or redirect conversations that don't align with what you're looking for. Your time and energy are precious. To start 'mastering the dating scene' as a single mom, I found it helped to shift my mindset. Instead of seeing it as a hunt for a partner, I started viewing it as an opportunity for self-discovery and meeting interesting new people. Here are a few things that helped me: 1. Create a "You" Time Slot: Even if it's just one evening a week or a few hours on a weekend, carve out dedicated time for yourself. This isn't just for dates; it's for getting back into hobbies, meeting friends, or simply recharging. When you feel refreshed, you're more open to social interactions. 2. Embrace Online Dating, Strategically: For busy moms, online apps can be a lifesaver. You can filter, chat from home, and schedule dates that fit your childcare arrangements. My tip: be upfront in your profile about being a mom. This helps weed out those who aren't ready for that aspect of your life. Also, don't be afraid to take your time before meeting in person. A few good conversations can tell you a lot. 3. Rekindle Your Social Skills: If working from home has made you feel rusty on the social front, start small. Join a local moms' group, a book club, or a fitness class. Practice talking to new people in low-pressure environments. Sometimes, just striking up a conversation with the barista or a fellow parent at the park can boost your confidence. Remember, many people feel a bit awkward initially, you're not alone! 4. Quality Over Quantity: As a mom, you don't have endless hours for endless dates. Focus on quality interactions. If a first date doesn't feel right, it's okay to move on. Trust your gut. You’re looking for someone who respects your life as a mom and genuinely wants to get to know *you*. 5. Define Your Non-Negotiables: What are you truly looking for in a partner? What are your deal-breakers? Having these clear in your mind can save you a lot of wasted time and emotional energy. For me, respect for my children and understanding my schedule were huge. 6. Self-Care is Not Selfish: Dating is emotionally taxing. Make sure you’re taking care of yourself physically and mentally. This could be anything from a quiet bath to a workout, or spending quality time with your kids. When you're happy and balanced, you radiate that energy. It's a journey, not a sprint. There will be frustrating moments, but there will also be moments of genuine connection and fun. Keep an open mind, stay true to yourself, and remember that you're an amazing mom who deserves happiness. You've got this!

I feel you I had my daughter in 2022 and ever since then it’s been hard trying to talk to people but what I do is I really don’t be looking I let people find me or anything like that cause you’ll text somebody then say you have a kid and then they say oh nah I’m good like okay😅 it is a couple of people who would tho.
