SOCIAL MEDIA IS FAKE: my real week as a mom of 2
Reality over here because mom life kicks my butt every day even if it doesn't look like it online. #relatablemom #motherhood #realisticmom #momlife #motherhoodunfiltered real mom life, motherhood unfiltered, mom moments, life with kids
Being a mom of two young toddlers truly reshaped my daily life in ways social media rarely reveals. I found myself constantly battling the chaos of curious kids climbing on furniture and making messes as I tried to maintain some order. One of my biggest challenges was managing my little ones’ rough play—which is heartwarming but also anxiety-inducing when you want to keep them safe while encouraging their bonding. Laundry became an endless task as my younger one spit out water multiple times a day, requiring outfit changes on the fly. I often wished I could put everything away after bedtime but exhaustion usually won over. Behind my makeup, I was dealing with unexpected acne flare-ups, even on my lips, which was an added stress I didn’t anticipate dealing with while caring for two kids. Small nuisances like a Valentine’s Day balloon lingering for a month or floor mats constantly getting ripped apart quickly build up and remind you that the picture-perfect social media posts don’t capture these real day-to-day struggles. And just when you think you can catch a break, the family dog might throw up on the couch! What helps me cope is giving myself grace and embracing the raw, unfiltered beauty of motherhood. Every chipped-off floor mat edge or messy corner of the house is a sign of all the love and energy poured into my family. To other moms feeling the weight of this life, know you’re not alone—social media often shows a highlight reel, but the messy, tiring, and chaotic moments are just as meaningful, if not more so.
