Plan my first week with a new family as a nanny!
As you become more familiar with your kids, this will become easier!! This will be my first full week with my nanny kid so I’m still learning his interests and boundaries, and what we do is subject to change based on our comfort level with each other :)
Should I do a day in the life?
Starting a new nanny job can be both exciting and challenging. As you settle into your role, it's important to design activities that resonate with the child's interests while also establishing a routine that’s comfortable for everyone. Begin by engaging in playtime, incorporating creative arts and crafts that align with the child's age and preferences. For instance, activities like cooking or sports can be hugely beneficial in fostering development and bonding. Communication is key! Take the time to discuss the child's likes and dislikes with their parents, which will help you tailor your approach. Use fun themes for the week, such as ‘All About Me,’ where you can explore the child's family, favorite colors, and activities they enjoy. This not only makes for engaging sessions but also allows you to learn more about the child in a fun and interactive way. You can incorporate sensory play to enhance their learning experience, emphasizing the five senses through various activities and discussion. Remember, flexibility is crucial. Adjust your plans based on how the child responds. If they show excitement for particular activities, feel free to explore those avenues further. Nurturing a sense of comfort and safety will allow both you and the child to thrive, making your experience as a nanny enjoyable and fulfilling.
