The largest Japanese food fest is back in NYC! 🇯🇵
Japan Fes is officially back in NYC 🇯🇵
I went opening weekend and as usual there’s SO much food, from fluffy pancakes and mochi to flaming seafood handrolls and matcha drinks 🍵
PRO TIPS if you’re planning to go:
• Get there early! They open at 10am 🕙
• Bring a waterproof bag or backpack 🎒
• Stick a drink tray inside to carry multiple items
• Bring your own containers with lids (most vendors don’t offer lids)
• A mini fan is a lifesaver, it can get hot with so many people in one place
• Comfy shoes are a must 👟
Don’t forget to check their website for the next dates and locations!
Save this post if Japan Fes is on your list this year🧋

If you're wondering what truly makes Japan Fes NYC an unmissable event, let me tell you, it's more than just a food festival – it's an immersive dive into Japanese culture right here in New York City! Having just visited, I can wholeheartedly say it lives up to its reputation as the world's largest Japanese food festival. Beyond the general deliciousness, I was particularly blown away by specific culinary delights. Imagine biting into a fluffy matcha soufflé that melts in your mouth, its delicate sweetness perfectly balanced by the earthy matcha. And you absolutely have to try the unique paste ice cream from Hello Yam – it’s an experience in itself, unlike any ice cream you’ve had before, offering a rich, authentic flavor. Don't stop there though; keep an eye out for other festival staples like piping hot takoyaki, savory okonomiyaki, juicy karaage, and incredible ramen bowls. The variety is astounding, from traditional street food to modern Japanese fusion, ensuring there's something to tantalize every taste bud. But Japan Fes isn't solely about the food. The atmosphere is electric! As you wander through the vibrant stalls, you'll often encounter engaging live performances, from traditional drumming to contemporary Japanese music. It’s also a fantastic place to witness incredible cosplay, adding to the festive and playful vibe. It’s a true celebration of Japanese culture, with vendors often selling unique crafts and goods alongside the culinary offerings. This blend of food, entertainment, and cultural immersion is what makes the experience so rich and memorable. To truly make the most of your visit, let me expand on those crucial pro tips. Getting there right when they open at 10 AM is a game-changer; you avoid the longest queues for the most popular vendors, ensuring you get your hands on those coveted dishes before they sell out. A waterproof bag isn't just for rain; it's perfect for spill protection when navigating crowded areas with multiple food items. And trust me, bringing your own reusable containers with lids is a lifesaver! Not only does it help reduce waste, but it's also incredibly handy for packing up leftovers (if you manage to have any!) or carrying different items without them mixing. Lastly, while the food is hot, the crowds can make it even hotter – that mini fan and comfy shoes will be your best friends for staying cool and enjoying hours of exploration across Manhattan. Remember, this isn't just a one-off event. Japan Fes is known for its extensive schedule, boasting "70 events" across various locations, with "28 right here in New York" and "happening all spring." This means you have multiple chances to explore different locations and vendors. I highly recommend checking their official website for the updated schedule and specific locations to plan your ultimate Japanese feast adventure. You won't want to miss out on any of the incredible food or cultural experiences throughout New York City!
