Low rating on GoodReads? 🍋

My review: I am not sure why this has a low rating on GoodReads. It’s thrilling, suspenseful, and easy to follow. I didn’t get confused by the shifts in perspective between past and present. When Maya found out what was happening, the plot twist was scary and unique. I enjoyed this book. It was scary to me, but not so scary that you stay up late at night freaking out. I felt like the characters were well thought out. The book explores topics of addiction, Guatemala, having two ethnic identities and a culture that you don’t feel enough connection to, and mental health. I liked that the narrator was unreliable because even the reader questions what’s going on. I recommend this book. For me, it was an enjoyable read. This book has a low rating on GoodReads but I personally disagree with them.
