Distractions Don’t Always Look Dangerous
1 Peter 5:8 (NIV) 📖🎚️
“Be alert and of sober mind.
Your enemy the devil prowls around
like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”

The devil’s distractions don’t always look evil
sometimes they look normal.
Familiar. Fun. Even harmless.
♡ ♡ ♡
But if it’s pulling you away from God,
pulling you away from peace,
pulling you away from purpose
it’s not harmless.
♡ ♡ ♡
The enemy is sneaky.
But now you see him.
And now that you do,
you can fight back with truth.

Distractions are often deceptive, appearing harmless yet gradually leading us away from God's peace and purpose. It's essential to recognize these distractions in various forms: 1. **Social Media**: Constant comparison can lead to anxiety and insecurity, detracting from your spiritual well-being. Remember 2 Corinthians 10:12 warns against measuring ourselves against others. 2. **Secular Music**: Lyrics evoking negative emotions can disturb your spiritual peace. Philippians 4:8 encourages focusing on what is pure and uplifting. 3. **Toxic Relationships**: If a relationship draws you away from God, reassess its influence. As stated in 1 Corinthians 15:33, 'Bad company corrupts good character.' 4. **Materialism**: Constantly seeking more can lead to spiritual emptiness. Matthew 6:21 teaches that where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. 5. **Busyness**: Feeling overwhelmed can cause you to neglect time with God. Reflect on Luke 10:40, which illustrates Martha's distraction. 6. **Self-Doubt**: Doubting your worth is a tactic of the enemy. Philippians 4:13 reminds us that we can achieve all through Christ who strengthens us. 7. **Pride**: Placing personal desires above God's truth can lead to deception, as warned in Proverbs 16:18. 8. **Overthinking**: Anxiety from overanalyzing prevents faith in God’s plan. Philippians 4:6 advises presenting your worries to God in prayer. Recognizing and addressing these distractions is crucial for maintaining a close relationship with God.

I feel the need to share this...last autumn, I had to go to the emergency room. My husband and I were told that I might have to be admitted and undergo surgery. Maybe even have a hysterectomy. We were so nervous...because it was the last thing we expected to hear. Thankfully, the ER doctor called in a specialist. While we waited for her to show up, my husband and I held hands and prayed together. Not only did she fix the issue...but, she didn't make it sound as dire as the ER doctor did. I was able to walk out of the ER that night (4 a.m. ...lol) and feel so much better, physically, mentally and spiritually. And, as we walked to our truck, there was the loudest scream we'd ever heard, coming from the rooftop area. We are convinced that was evil, being angry that we went to God with our worries and He answered our prayers. Go to the Lord...he's listening and wants to help us!! 🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️
