I feel like I have entirely lost half my supply after we all had the stomach virus a few weeks ago…

With that being said this isn’t my first time experiencing this as I started my period back at 4 weeks and it dips every month since during that time. So I have tried already: Body Armor, Bai, Brewer’s Yeast, Pumping extra (with has resulted in my n*ps being super sore), latch him every 1.5-2 hours (I’ve really always nursed on demand), and he doesn’t go all night without at least one feed.

He’s been doing this certain thing mid nursing session-sucking, letting himself lean back to break section and relatch. It’s repetitive, almost like he’s trying to start another letdown. Not to mention biting 3-4 times each session.

We had gotten sick two days before Christmas and I still haven’t gotten back up to feeling full like I normally do or him not doing this detach and relatching.

Am I losing my supply?

He’s 10.5 months now and my goal was 1 year, we’re growing through the biting phase too so I’ve really considered using my stash and mixing to swap to formula. Literally my only hold back is knowing we are in the “sick season”.

Advice really appreciated 🫶🏼🫶🏼

It's not uncommon for moms to face supply issues, especially after experiences like illness or hormonal changes. Staying hydrated is crucial; drinks like Body Armor and Bai can help replenish lost fluids. Nutritional support, such as Brewer's Yeast, is also advocated by many breastfeeding moms to boost supply. Additionally, maintaining a consistent nursing schedule can support breastfeeding goals. If you're facing the biting phase, gentle and calm responses can help encourage the baby to nurse without biting. It's always beneficial to seek advice from experienced mothers, join support groups, or consult lactation experts. Don't be discouraged; every breastfeeding journey is unique, and finding what works best for you and your baby is essential. Sharing your experiences with others can bring relief and solutions during this sometimes overwhelming time.

First off pat yourself on the back because 10.5 months is amazing! Give yourself grace and look at what you did not didn’t do. Second, I drink electrolyte water throughout the day, mama milk tea and I take the Legendairy supplements which boosted my supply immensely. I also latched on demand.

Just stay hydrated and it may have dipped but I do not think you’ve lost it!! I’ve been nursing for 2 year and 8 months now and nothing I did with my first child ever seen to help increase supply…. Just make sure you have a good pump and I LOVE unimom medical grade pump!!
