[ COFFEE ] THERE’S A HOLE-IN-THE-WALL LANEWAY KIOSK IN THE BRISBANE CBD POURING SOME OF THE CITY’S BEST SPECIALTY COFFEE

Tucked down Eagle Lane between Queen and Eagle Streets, No Standing is exactly what it sounds like. No fuss. Just exceptional Single O coffee, Doughcraft pastries, and a queue of CBD workers who’ve quietly made this their morning non-negotiable. The name is a play on the parking sign, and you’ll be in and out faster than a parking inspector.

THE COFFEE

☕ They pour Sydney roaster Single O, with Killer Bee on milk and Reservoir on black. Both are exceptional.

🥐 Pastries are by Doughcraft, Brisbane’s favourite local pastry crew.

THE VIBE

🏙️ Industrial kiosk energy, colourful poster wall, and a laneway that also hides Brooklyn Standard, the underground live-music bar. Eagle Lane is doing a lot.

🚶 Grab your coffee and keep moving. That’s the whole concept. It’s refreshingly, unapologetically grab-and-go.

GOOD TO KNOW

Weekdays only: Mon to Thu 7am to 3pm, Fri 7am to 2pm. The city workers know. Now you do too.

Find them via Eagle Lane. Slip between Queen Street and Eagle Street and look for the kiosk. It’s small. That’s the point.

📍 No Standing is at 70 Eagle Street, Brisbane City (Eagle Lane entrance)

From my experience visiting this hole-in-the-wall laneway kiosk, the vibe perfectly balances efficiency with charm. The bright, colorful posters and the industrial aesthetic give it a unique energy, different from typical cafes. What stands out most is the coffee itself. I tried both the Killer Bee on milk and Reservoir black from Single O, and each cup was rich, smooth, and full of flavor—definitely among the city's finest. Pairing your coffee with Doughcraft pastries, renowned locally for freshness and taste, makes it a perfect morning combo. The concept of No Standing is refreshingly simple—grab your carefully crafted coffee and keep moving. It's ideal for busy CBD workers or anyone on the go. Despite its small size, the kiosk is well-known among locals for its consistent quality, which explains the steady queue during weekdays. Additionally, the location in Eagle Lane is convenient but requires a little knowledge to find. Tucked between Queen and Eagle Streets, it’s worth slipping in through the narrow laneway to discover this vibrant spot. Nearby, you can also find Brooklyn Standard, the underground live-music bar, which adds to the laneway’s lively atmosphere. Operating Monday through Thursday from 7 am to 3 pm and Fridays until 2 pm, you’ll want to plan your visit accordingly. Whether you’re grabbing your morning fuel or an afternoon pick-me-up, the kiosk promises a seamless, quality coffee experience in the heart of Brisbane.
