Jamaican Curry Goat… AGAIN. 😂🇯🇲

At this point, this is like my THIRD time posting this dish because I’m officially obsessed. The tender goat, the rich curry gravy, the potatoes soaking up all that flavor… I can’t get enough of it. 🤤

✨ Jamaican Curry Goat Recipe ✨

Instructions:

1. Season goat meat with curry powder, allspice, thyme, garlic, onion, green onion, salt, and pepper. Marinate for at least 2 hours (overnight is even better).

2. Heat oil in a large pot and “burn” 1 tbsp curry powder for about 30 seconds.

3. Add goat meat and brown well on all sides.

4. Pour in enough water to cover the meat and simmer until tender (about 2-3 hours).

5. Add potatoes and Scotch bonnet pepper.

6. Continue cooking until potatoes are soft and the gravy thickens.

7. Serve over rice and peas and enjoy!

I swear every time I make this, it gets better. 😩🔥 #JamaicanFood #lemon8challenge #fyp #foryou #letschat

... Read moreJamaican curry goat is a beloved traditional dish that brings a burst of Caribbean flavors to your plate. The richness of the curry gravy combined with the tender goat meat creates a meal that is both hearty and satisfying. In my experience, the secret to an unforgettable Jamaican curry goat lies in proper marinating and slow cooking. Marinating the goat overnight with Jamaican curry powder, allspice, thyme, garlic, and onions helps the flavors deeply penetrate the meat, making it moist and flavorful. When cooking the dish, "burning" the curry powder briefly in hot oil before adding the meat intensifies the aroma and depth of the curry. Simmering the goat slowly for 2–3 hours ensures the meat becomes tender and absorbs the spices completely. Adding cubed potatoes towards the end is essential as they soak up the delicious curry sauce and add a comforting texture. Scotch bonnet pepper is an authentic ingredient that adds a spicy kick, although you can adjust the heat level to your liking by using less or removing the seeds. Serving the curry goat over classic Jamaican rice and peas completes the meal, balancing the spicy and savory flavors with a mild and creamy side. If you want to experiment further, consider adding coconut milk to the curry gravy for a richer, creamier sauce, or include vegetables like carrots or bell peppers for extra color and nutrition. Many find that letting the leftovers sit overnight allows the flavors to deepen even more, making the dish even better the next day. Ultimately, Jamaican curry goat is a dish that celebrates the culture and tradition of Jamaica. It's perfect for family gatherings or when you want to treat yourself to a flavorful and soul-warming meal. Trying this recipe a few times will make you comfortable with the steps and allow you to tweak it perfectly to your taste!
