Utah• Day 4

We started off the morning at Dead Horse Point State Park and ended the day doing the last few hikes at Arches that we didn’t get to the first day.

Dead Horse is a great smaller park that is perfect for killing time or going all out!

Here, we went to the visitor center and from there you have many options! They have a beautiful trail with spectacular views! You can choose to do one of two hikes, East Rim or West Rim. Both trails bring you to many great view points, but West trim is longer and more view points. Due to time, we did the East Rim Trail and saw everything it had to offer!

Dead Horse Point State Park

See my Day 2 post for the first half of Arches National Park! It’s impossible to do it all in one day, we could have done three days but we are heading to Zion tomorrow!

Arches is my favorite! So many breath taking views and so many great photo opp stops!

Arches Hikes:

•Broken Arch

Distance- 1.2 miles

Elevation Gail-59 feet

Difficulty- easy

•Delicate Arch Viewpoint Trails (we wanted to do the full hike (3 miles and strenuous, but this was last and we were too tiered lol)

Distance- .5 miles

Elevation Gail-171 feet

Difficulty- moderate (So. Many. Steps.)

•Double Arch Viewpoint and Trail

Distance- .6 miles

Elevation Gail-30+ feet

Difficulty- easy/moderate

Sidenote, this one was amazing! You can take the trail to the bottom of the arch, but we went up further which is where the moderate difficulty comes in. Think scrambling and asking a random man for help getting down 🤦🏼‍♀️😆)

•Sand Dune Arch Trail

Distance- .4miles

Elevation Gail- 0 feet

Difficulty- easy (great for kids!)

This one was one of my favorites! The only a slot canyons in Arches!

•North Windows, South Windows, and Turret Arch

(you can see the North Window from the parking lot, take a short trail to see the rest!)

Distance- 1 miles

Elevation Gail- 99 feet

Difficulty- easy/moderate

... Read moreMy Utah adventure truly opened my eyes to some of the most stunning landscapes in the US! If you're planning your own trip to this incredible state, especially to iconic spots like Dead Horse Point State Park and Arches National Park, I’ve got some personal insights to help you make the most of it. First off, when searching for things to do in Utah, you'll quickly realize how vast and diverse the natural beauty is. The famous 'Mighty 5' national parks are a must-see, and Arches is definitely one of them. What I learned is that planning is key, especially for popular parks where timed entry might be required during peak season. Always check the official park websites before you go to ensure a smooth visit! For places like Dead Horse Point State Park, prepare to be absolutely mesmerized by the panoramic canyon views. It’s a perfect spot to watch a sunrise or sunset, painting the red rocks in incredible hues. I found that even shorter trails here offer immense rewards, giving you a taste of Utah's dramatic landscape without requiring an entire day. The overlooks provide stunning perspectives of the Colorado River winding through the deep canyon below. Now, Arches National Park is a whole different beast—in the best way possible! My experience hiking among these incredible natural arch formations was truly unforgettable. Don't underestimate the desert sun, even on an easy trail like the Sand Dune Arch Trail, which takes you through a unique slot canyon experience. Always carry more water than you think you'll need. I personally recommend starting early to beat the heat and the crowds, especially for popular spots like Double Arch or the Delicate Arch Viewpoint. The early morning light also offers fantastic photography opportunities! When exploring the canyons and arches, sturdy hiking shoes are non-negotiable. I saw people struggling in flimsy footwear, and trust me, you want to be comfortable and safe on these trails. Sunscreen, a wide-brimmed hat, and layers are also your best friends. The weather can change quickly, from cool mornings to scorching afternoons. And a good camera, of course, because every turn offers a postcard-perfect photo opportunity of the majestic red rocks! Another tip from my trip: pace yourself. Trying to see everything in one day in a park like Arches is nearly impossible, as I found out! It's better to pick a few trails and truly savor them. For instance, while I didn't tackle the full strenuous hike to Delicate Arch, the viewpoint trail still offered fantastic perspectives and was totally worth it. The variety of hikes, from easy paved paths to challenging scrambles like those near Double Arch, means there's something for everyone, making Arches a truly versatile destination within Utah. Finally, remember to respect the delicate desert environment. Stay on marked trails, don't disturb any wildlife or vegetation, and pack out everything you pack in. Leaving no trace ensures these stunning red rocks, natural arches, and canyons remain beautiful for generations to come. My Utah road trip was an absolute dream, and with a little preparation, yours can be too!
