I love a good themed party
Last night I threw a Friday Night Fever party and it was a blast! 70s music, dance contest I mean who wouldn’t want to do that lol After a long week it’s important to have fun! #themedparties #discoaesthetic #70s fashion
Okay, so you want to throw your own 'Friday Night Fever' style bash and make it an absolute blast? I totally get it! After my last disco party, I've got some go-to tips to share that made all the difference. It's all about bringing that vibrant 70s energy to life! First things first, the decorations are key to setting the mood. You absolutely, 100% need a disco ball – it's non-negotiable for a true "DISCO PARTY TIME!!!" vibe. Seriously, the way the light spins and reflects just instantly transports everyone to another era. I also love using string lights or fairy lights to create a softer, more magical glow in other areas. Think bright, bold colors – oranges, yellows, hot pinks, and metallics. Fringe curtains for doorways are super easy to hang and make a big impact. Don't forget some vintage posters or even old vinyl records as wall art. For a fun touch, I even scattered some glitter on tables (just be ready for the clean-up!). Next up, the music. This is the heart of any disco party! Spend some time curating a playlist filled with iconic 70s funk, soul, and, of course, classic disco hits. Think Bee Gees, Earth, Wind & Fire, Donna Summer, KC and the Sunshine Band. The goal is to keep everyone on the dance floor. I usually start with some groovier tunes as people arrive and then crank up the high-energy tracks once the party is in full swing. A good sound system is a must! And what's a 70s party without amazing fashion? Encourage your guests to really get into the spirit! Bell bottoms, platform shoes, sequins, bold patterns, wide collars, and jumpsuits are all perfect. I had so much fun putting together my own outfit, and seeing everyone else's creative takes was half the fun. It really adds to the immersive experience. For activities, besides the inevitable dance-off (which is always a hit!), consider setting up a DIY photo booth with some funky props like oversized sunglasses, feather boas, and afro wigs. It provides some hilarious memories and great photos. If you're feeling ambitious, a karaoke session with 70s hits can also be a riot! Finally, don't overthink the food and drinks. Keep it fun and easy. Retro snacks like mini quiches or cheese and pineapple sticks can be a cute nod to the era. For drinks, classic cocktails like a Tequila Sunrise or a Harvey Wallbanger fit the theme perfectly. Or just make sure you have plenty of sparkling beverages ready for all that dancing! Throwing a disco party is such a fantastic way to let loose and have a good time after a long week. It's all about good music, good company, and a whole lot of sparkle. Trust me, your guests will be talking about your groovy bash for ages!
