Love snow days

Snow days are truly one of winter's greatest gifts! There’s something so peaceful and exciting about fresh snow transforming the world outside. I just love bundling up and heading out for some classic winter fun. If you're looking for ways to enjoy those beautiful snowy days, here are some of my top favorite activities and tips to make them even better! Gliding on Ice: My Ice Skating Adventures Ice skating is definitely at the top of my list for snow day activities. There’s a certain freedom you feel gliding across the ice, whether it’s at an outdoor rink or a frozen pond (always make sure it’s safe and approved for skating!). For beginners, don't be afraid to hold onto the barrier or a friend. Wear comfortable, warm layers and thick socks. I always recommend wearing a hat and gloves, because even if you don't feel cold at first, your fingers and ears will thank you! If you’re renting skates, make sure they fit snugly but aren't painful. A little ankle support goes a long way. My first few times, I felt a bit wobbly, but with a little practice, you'll be feeling like a pro in no time! It’s such a joyful way to spend an afternoon. Hitting the Slopes: Skiing for Everyone While I'm not a professional skier, I absolutely love the thrill of going down a gentle slope. Skiing can seem intimidating at first, but many resorts offer beginner lessons that are super helpful. If you’re just starting out, choose a bunny hill or a green run – it’s all about getting comfortable and learning the basics. Proper gear is crucial: a good helmet, warm waterproof clothing, and well-fitting skis and boots will make all the difference. Remember to stay hydrated and take breaks. Even if you just spend an hour or two on the slopes, the fresh air and stunning views are totally worth it. And if skiing isn't your thing, snow tubing or sledding offers similar exhilaration without the steep learning curve! Classic Fun: The Art of Snowball Making & Fort Building Who doesn't love a good old-fashioned snowball fight? Or even better, building an epic snow fort! The key to a perfect snowball is the right kind of snow – not too powdery, not too icy, but just right for packing. If the snow is too dry, try adding a tiny bit of water to your hands as you pack it. For snow forts, gather a group of friends and designate roles: some packing snow, others shaping walls, and maybe one brave soul digging out the interior. You can use plastic containers or buckets to create perfect snow bricks. It’s amazing what you can build with a little imagination and a lot of snow. Remember to aim low and keep it friendly during snowball fights! After all that hard work and fun, coming inside for a steaming mug of hot cocoa feels like the ultimate reward. These simple activities bring out the kid in everyone and create the best winter memories.
