Now, I know this sounds silly, it’s serving chicken. But, let me give you 5 reasons why Chick-fil-A should be your first job.
I started working at Chick-fil-A when I was 15, and I left at the age of 20. Not because I hated it, but because at the time I had a job offer that I desperately with me and my (now husband) being engaged.
1️⃣. Maturity Growth : When I got hired, I was a little freshman in high-school, which I for my age and grade was very immature. Working at Chick-fil-A helped me grow into a kid who able to handle real life situations with strangers.
2️⃣. Leadership Growth: Working here really set me up for success with growing as a leader. I jumped up to being a manager in about two years of working at my first location, and I was also starting to lead at my Church. When I switched locations, I had leaders around me who had sit down conversations with me to help me grow in the ways I needed to, inside of work and outside of work. I wouldn’t be where I am today if I didnt have those leaders around me encouraging me in that aspect.
3️⃣. Mental Health : For me, I never wanted to be at home. Home wasn’t the place I wanted to be. Chickfila , and the people I worked with made work the place I wanted to be. It helped me get through the toughest times, of when I thought my world was falling apart as i was going through highschool. It helped me to not get depressed, I had people around every corner praying for me. Even strangers. Also, you just have fun all the time, mistakes can be funny, it’s not that deep.
4️⃣. Connections : Man, if I could take you guys through the book of connections I have made just working at Chick-fil-A. Not only do I still have some best friends from the job, but I still have old leaders / coworkers reach out to me and ask me how I am doing. I have sat with strangers and prayed for them, or payed for their meal and now they know me by name, even though I no longer know them.
5️⃣. Spirit Lead : Finally, Chick-fil-A really helped me grow my relationship with Christ. I was able to get to read people, and you never know what somebody might be going through. The opportunities I got to step aside and listen to somebody’s testimony and share mine, and pray over a meal. The times i’ve gotten to serve coworkers who needed the community around them. All the times i’ve gotten to lead with Jesus first in my heart, and serve not just chicken, but serve people.
If you’re looking for somewhere to start, I recommend Chick-fil-A always. You will look back and see how much you’ve grown, because it’s not just a job, it’s more than that. You literally get to be the reason somebody might smile that day.
