Letter One: “Safe Love”
Dear God,
I’ve realized that I’m not asking You for a perfect man. I’m asking You for a safe one.
Someone who doesn’t make me question my worth because we had a disagreement. Someone who doesn’t seek validation from other women when life gets uncomfortable. Someone who understands that love isn’t proven by the easy days and that it’s revealed by the hard ones.
I’ve spent years becoming the woman You were shaping me to be. You carried me through heartbreaks that nearly convinced me to stop believing in love. You opened doors I never imagined, helped me build a career I enjoy, gave me the strength to finish my master’s degree, and taught me that healing isn’t a destination—it’s a daily choice.
So now I’m asking for something different. Not butterflies that disappear after a few months. Not excitement that comes wrapped in uncertainty. Not someone who knows how to pursue me but never learns how to protect what we build together.
I’m asking for peace and the kind of love that feels like coming home. The kind that chooses conversation over silence, honesty over attention, and commitment over convenience. If that kind of love isn’t ready yet, then neither am I.
Keep refining my heart while You’re preparing his.
Teach us both to become the kind of people who don’t run when life gets hard, but instead reach for each other’s hands and choose to stay.
Because I’ve learned that the safest place I’ll ever be isn’t in someone’s arms, it’s in Yours.
Amen.
Leaving this in Your hands. 🤍
Reading this letter titled "Safe Love" truly resonated with me, especially the idea of asking for a love that feels like coming home rather than just fleeting excitement. In my own journey, I’ve learned that true love requires more than just chemistry or fleeting butterflies—it demands patience, trust, and a readiness for vulnerability. Like the author, I found that healing and personal growth are ongoing processes that deeply prepare us for meaningful relationships. It’s important to recognize that both partners need to be in a space where they choose commitment even when life gets hard, instead of running away from challenges. This letter beautifully highlights the value of safe love — a love grounded in peace, honesty, and genuine connection. Moreover, the spiritual dimension of entrusting your desires and doubts to a higher power brings a powerful sense of comfort and hope. The belief that safety and worth come from a divine source reassures us that we are not alone in our search for love. It reminds me that true strength sometimes lies in surrender and faith, which can strengthen relationships through perseverance and grace. In Fort Worth or anywhere else, this message transcends place—it talks to anyone hoping for a love that treasures conversation over silence and chooses honesty over convenience. Taking the time to become the person you are meant to be, while waiting for a partner equally prepared to build a meaningful bond, is a profound lesson I continue to embrace. This letter invites us to reflect on what kind of love we truly deserve and reminds us that the safest place will always be in the hands of love that feels like home, grounded in trust and commitment rather than temporary emotion.
