3 of my sanity-saving mom hacks for flying ✈️
1. Ipads. Yep, I said it. Everyone has their favorite shows, games, etc. my kids will have theirs too! 📱
2. Snacks. All of their favorites. No one is happy when they are hungry. 🥨🍎🥕🥒🍇
3. Expectations. Mama, hear me out. Many of us go into flights full of anxiety, not because of what our kids have done, but because of the nonexistent scenarios we’ve made up in our mind. 99.9% of these don’t even happen so please, please try to relax. You’d be impressed how well kids adapt when traveling. They are kids so of course they may have kid moments. Most of those moments are going to bother you more than they are the people around you. I’ve had people around me tell me how well behaved my kids were and I thought the exact opposite but that’s because I was a nervous wreck the entire flight. So relax, breathe, and stay calm! 💕
Either way, in the end it all works out and it’s all worth the flight ✈️ The skills learned. The adjustments made. The sanity lost, maybe for a moment. The memories made! Its all worth it ❤️ Share this with a new mom, a mom who’s traveling solo with kids, a mom who’s never flown with her kids, a scared mom, or save it for yourself!

Okay mamas, let's dive deeper into the tablet hack! It's truly a game-changer for flying with kids. When I pack their tablets for an airplane trip, I'm not just grabbing any device. I make sure it's fully charged – this is non-negotiable! I learned that the hard way once when my son's tablet died 30 minutes into a 5-hour flight. Never again! Now, I always bring a portable power bank, just in case. Also, pre-downloading shows, movies, and games is crucial. Airplane Wi-Fi can be spotty or expensive, so having everything ready offline saves so much stress. I usually let my kids pick a few new things to download a week before the trip as a special 'travel treat.' For younger kids, I love tablets with built-in parental controls and durable cases – because bumps and drops are inevitable in tight spaces! Now, about those headphones! They are the unsung heroes of flying with children. Finding the right pair is key. For my little ones, I always opt for kid-friendly headphones that are comfortable and have volume-limiting features. This protects their hearing and gives me peace of mind. Noise-cancelling headphones can be a lifesaver, especially for longer flights, helping them tune out engine noise and fully immerse themselves in their show or audiobook. I usually pack a wired pair and a wireless pair, just in case the airplane's entertainment system requires a jack, or if the wireless ones run out of battery. Don't forget an audio splitter if you have two kids sharing one device! While tablets and headphones are incredible tools, I also try to mix things up. Before we even board the airplane, I set expectations about screen time. For example, 'You can watch two movies, then we'll do some coloring.' This helps prevent meltdowns when it's time to put the tablet away. I also always have a small bag of 'surprise' activities: a new coloring book, a small puzzle, or even simple pipe cleaners can work wonders. Remember, the goal isn't to rely solely on screens, but to use them strategically to get through the most challenging parts of the flight, like takeoff, landing, or when they're just getting restless. It's all about making the journey manageable and, dare I say, enjoyable for everyone onboard! So, to recap my personal experience with kids, headphones, and tablets on an airplane: fully charge everything, pre-download content, invest in good kid-friendly headphones (both wired and wireless options if possible!), set screen time expectations, and always have a portable charger. These simple steps have transformed our family travel experiences from dreaded to delightful. Happy travels, fellow mamas!
