Kennel Clean After The Winter Storm

After experiencing such weather, I found it essential to prioritize kennel cleaning once the ground dries out. One of the first things I learned is to remove any debris, old bedding, and accumulated dirt promptly to prevent lingering moisture and bacteria buildup. Using a stiff broom or a pressure washer can be very effective in loosening and washing away dried mud and dirt. Since my kennel area doesn’t have any grass, I also focused on distributing fresh, dry materials like straw or wood chips to help absorb moisture and provide a comfortable surface for the dogs. This not only helps keep their paws clean but also reduces the risk of infections. Additionally, applying pet-safe disinfectants helps to maintain hygiene without exposing the dogs to harmful chemicals. It’s also a good idea to check the drainage around the kennel regularly to prevent water pooling after heavy rain or melting snow. From my experience, consistency is key; regular cleaning after storms and during wet seasons keeps the kennel environment healthier and more enjoyable for the dogs. Incorporating these steps turned kennel maintenance from a daunting chore into a manageable routine, ensuring my pets always have a clean and safe outdoor space to enjoy.
