My First Garden - Advice Welcome 🪴🪏

... Read moreEmbarking on your first gardening journey can be both exciting and overwhelming. From personal experience, the key to a thriving garden lies in understanding your local climate and soil conditions. Before planting, testing your soil for pH and nutrient levels can make a significant difference in plant health. Selecting herbs and vegetables that suit your environment ensures better growth and less maintenance. I found it helpful to start with easy-to-grow herbs like basil, mint, and parsley, which offer rewarding results quickly and can thrive in small spaces. For vegetables, consider planting tomatoes, lettuce, and radishes as they are beginner-friendly and grow relatively fast. Watering is another critical factor. It’s best to water in the early morning or late afternoon to prevent evaporation and fungal issues. Additionally, using mulch helps retain soil moisture and suppress weeds. Don’t hesitate to join online gardening forums or local community groups. Connecting with other gardeners, sharing your progress, and asking for advice can provide invaluable support and motivation. Remember, gardening is a learning process—mistakes will happen, but they are opportunities to grow your skills. Lastly, enjoy the process and celebrate small victories like the first sprout or harvest. A garden not only provides fresh produce and herbs but also offers a rewarding and calming hobby worth nurturing.

Your squash, tomatoes, and tomatillos all need a lot more space. I would definitely put them in a different space. Good luck!

I couldn’t tell if you put your mint in there as well but if you did, please give it its own pot. It is INVASIVE and it WILL take over 😭
